This is a quick report as I was just following all day, I will leave the rest up to Murph.
Couldnt sleep all night the anticipation of the ride was getting to me,actually when I finally did get to sleep the bloody Alarm went off:angry:
I arrived Early and parked up the road a bit, mudrat was not long behind me and parked there as well,we exchanged pleasantries and kitted up,Murph noticed up the road and came and grabbed us,we rolled down to his place where Moto and Kev were.Moto’s Kato was having troubles with the Zorst, they had a go at fixing it and got it semi Ok. We all headed off not longer after that Murph on the Kato 525 Moto and Kev on the Kato 450’s Tim on a Kato 200,mudrat on a Kato 300 and myself on the Gasser. We followed the old train line and powerlines for a fair while, there was plenty of Big puddles which I found a couple were rather deep!!:woohoo: about 10 minutes in I followed murph through a creek there was a submerged log and the front washed out,the bike went over but didnt get any water in her as she started second kick, thanks Moto for helping me push her out,I had wet feet all day from that:laugh: Tim went in after me and layed her down as well the water was about 1 1/2 feet deep and pretty cool:laugh: We then hit some real good flowing single trail which was awsome going, I came over a crest and was going a bit harder than I should have been got stuck in a rut and crashed over the bars, jammed my little finger and bruised the knee,Ill get over it,:laugh:we had hit some twin trail which was pretty rough and rocky I heard a four stroke right behind me and then it went quite:dry:apparently Moto was going for the the pass and I did the mobile chicane trick insted of t boning me Moto headed for the bush and came up second best.lol We were then led on a really tight technical single trail, I come around the corner and see kev trying to remove his bike from a heap of trailside bushes and Lantana:laugh: must of rattled him a bit because when he got going not 30 metres further down the track he managed to hit a root of a fallen down tree which stopped his bike instantly, sent him off the bike and sitting on the log and the bike stopped and sitting bolt upright:woohoo: It was like a circus trick:laugh: funniest thing Ive seen in a long time, and the radiators didnt get trashed, amazing:blink: a bit more single trail then I saw the boys sitting at the top of this Gnarly steep hill, I thought I would show the boyz the capabilities of a torque spewing 300cc mean 2 stroke machine:woohoo: The gasser did it easy the revs got down to near on stalling, and she just crawled up to the top.
We came to a little outcrop and rolled down,Moto was trying to fix his zorst again and we were waiting for Mudrat to show up,we actually started to worry about him as it was a good 10 minutes after I had last spotted him, we then the familiar sound of the kato 2 smoker over the hill, apparently he had taken a couple of tumbles and managed to get himself righted and back up again.Good effort mate! we then did more single track up to the Gap servo where we had a great feed, best works burger Ive had in a long time. Moto left us at this stage with a nice wheelstand up the main Rd. we headed back into the bush,we covered a lot of twin trail and some realy good downhills, before comeing out onto some old shack that looks like it hasnt been used for a while,Murph led us into all the single trails around there which was a real blast,Moto you would have loved it,only problem was there was a few horses around so we didnt explore it as much as we would have liked. On the way out mudrat some how fell down this washout with the bike next to him upside down:silly: this was a 5-6 feet drop off where the rd had fallen away, ironically we had talked about earlier when we stopped how we would not like to end up there, must have been the old moth to a bright light syndrome hey Muddy:laugh: The more amazing thing is he managed to get himself out of there by himself.amazing what adrenaline can do for you. We head up around a corner and I see Murph also taking a dirt nap:laugh: we wind our way back towards Buttaba through some cool tunnels and water ways before getting to an area where Kev takes over the lead,he shows Murph an alternative track which is real good fun.We arrive back at murhs place at about 3:15 and I was absolutley stuffed I was inbed by 8 and didnt get out until 9 today:laugh: It was a great ride and was made even better by the guys who were involved,Gili ya missed a good one:laugh: Thanks Murph and Tim look forward to another one with you.Ollie
I didnt take any photo’s but Tim and Kev did (boys)
May 3, 2009 at 11:56 am #132213Wow, glad that was the quick ride report
but you’ve covered the day pretty well, Ollie.
firstly I’d like to thank those that where on this ride for the encouragement throughout the day and their patience in waiting for me.
Defiantly a grade more than I’m used too and bit quicker as well, but a great bunch of blokes made it all worth while.
Rode quite a few new tracks aswell, which is always goodMay 3, 2009 at 10:19 pm #132236Glad all enjoyed the ride Saturday.
As usual top ride report Ollie, can’t really put anything else towards it. Will try and get a couple pics up soon. Unfortunately Moto, I think the pics are all of you working on the bloody exhaust brackets.
Also glad to hear everone had a bit of a lie down, made me feel better when I had one.
Top effort Mudrat, its amazing what you can do if you push your boundaries.
Catchya’s all next rideMay 3, 2009 at 10:32 pm #132237
AnonymousYep, I can’t add too much more than Ollie’s report as I had no idea where we were 100% of the time. I would like to say that the trails and ST were mixed and varied and great fun to ride. On top of that we didn’t see another bike until we got to the servo.
I was having a ball for the moments my muffler stayed attached to my bike. It’s a shame I missed out on the back half of the ride, I will definately make a beeline for any more of Murph’s rides though….alot of fun
How good did the Lakes motorcross track look??
May 4, 2009 at 4:06 am #132246Hey Murph
It sounds like the ‘Newcastle Legend’ has been reborn.
Great ride report Ollie. Murph does put on a good ride.

AnonymousMal, I just noticed you are a moderator! I don’t know how that’s happened, I will go and change it
EDIT: Changed, you were a moderator by title only. Funny how that happened

AnonymousI think there was a hangover from removing the green dots. I have changed a few now. A couple of people were Team Owners the the other day!

That’s right TB, if I can’t moderate myself I would not chance of moderating you lot:laugh:
Moto – thanks for the adjustment. lucky no one sent me a pm asking for moderation, i would’ve said WTF!!
May 4, 2009 at 5:36 am #132365
AnonymousYou only had moderator status, none of the ‘special power’
TB – Interestingly, the people that seem to be effected were the ones that had green dots taken away from them. Maybe a certain Super Admin has made the error since it wasn’t me who removed the dots?
May 4, 2009 at 5:41 am #132368
AnonymousI’ve found the problem, the people that have been ‘ungreen dotted’ need to have ‘no rank assigned’ selected in the User Administration under the Fireboard. If this isn’t selected they can get spurious titles and fall properly within the ranking system. No rank assigned effectively means they fall into the ranking system and not any of the ‘special’ ranks that we have created like Moderator or Admin or Team Owner etc.
Ollie had an error on his, just changed that too. I have changed all the guys that I green dotted and some that I haven’t. You will have to check the rest TB
Aren’t you glad to have me?
May 4, 2009 at 5:42 am #132369Hey Mal
