AnonymousI will state that in my younger days I don’t think there was much I wouldn’t do….but this is one of them!
The closest I got was abseiling off an 80m ‘T’ shaped water tower for charity. I also had a go at caving which had little rock climbs and abseil sections, but nothing like the above.
I’m now convinced Murph truly is a nutter!!
PS – And you Mal!
November 12, 2009 at 11:51 pm #160869Yes I did some abseiling as well but not much and that rock climbing is wrong no bloody way for this little black duck
Mal and I chatted about their rock climbing at the Pub the other day and I told him the same thing its wrong

We have done a lot of abseiling over the years. Before the climbing thing we did a lot of cayoning and the harder the better back then. There was a lot of abseiling down frezzing waterfalls and slippery cliffs.
A mate a I also abseilied down Mt Banks in the Blue Mountains (before they closed it). 10 X 50m abseils and a 3 hour walk out. That was a big day.
We tried the caving thing too Moto. Didn’t do much for me. Taking packs off and crawling through Bat shit. There was an absiel in the dark into a cavern that was nice though.
And you right Murph is a nutter, in more ways than you would want to know.

AnonymousCan’t say I was a fan of the caving either really. A couple of my mates did it so I joined in for a year or so. When we did the real tricky stuff I was close to getting attacks of claustrophobia
It’s funny seeing these pics as Matt was up at the bay the 2 weekends ago and we decided to go for a walk up to Mt Tomaree. When we came down we decided to walk round the rocks to Wreck beach. At one point we had to rock climb a 3m or so almost vertical section with waves crashing about 5m below. I got half way and almost pooped myself.
All I could think of was slipping and bouncing off the jagged rocks and into the water, only to get further pummeled by the waves. Quite obviously I made it but it shows I can’t handle a 5m high climb let alone the stuff you and the Murphster used to do!
November 13, 2009 at 4:08 am #160900Did some climbs at Tomaree sea cliffs, some of them were pretty bloody hard
Its all about calculated risks :silly: And just pure hanging on :X :X :X :X :SJust got back from Training Wheels’s ride and had a great time
Dissapointed not to win the rolling race (I got boxed in by an XR and had to use brakes as to not hit Morgo) I was thinking of puting up a protest
I will let TW start the report thread
Cheers

MurphNovember 13, 2009 at 4:26 am #160925I’ve done some abseiling and some indoor climbing but last time I did it was about a year ago and I can tell I’d need quite a bit of practice to get it right. I super impressed by it though, my wife was watching that show on oneHD with me last night and just said that’s stupid why would you do that but I kind of get it as much as you can from the couch that is. Its about conquering something and achieving challenging goals rather than just staying between the lines and in the safe zone! I feel similarly about riding, I’m challenged :p and enjoy overcoming the obstacles to become a better rider.
