Just the 3 riders for the Murphsberg III
Hillbilly 570, Tim and me
Waited until 9:15 for itsagas but no show (more on that later)
Great day out, starting with Arcadia singles and over to Tims single where Mick had a have a couple of goes at the railway cutting. No worries Mick it catches a lot of people. Through the rest of Tims single doing the rocky step ups with no dramas. From the top of the powerline track showed Mick where would be riding. Out via the old Wangi rail line, through the Awaba tunnel and Tim tightened his chain which was a good excuse for us to have a rest.
Rode some singles out past the Moto-X track then out to Palmers hill where I stalled only to watch Mick and Tim blast past.
From there we rode out to Wakey and cruised the K9 single, Rocky Downhill single and Shanes Loop. Some singles to the rickerty bridge which was looking a little too rickerty so we opted for some more singles to see us around the creek. No problems at the next rocky step up and we passed a couple of 4WDs on the way to the Queensland Gate track.
Tim and I carried the log up and repositioned it at the base of the step. I was first up and I managed to do just that (Phew)
Mick went next but got a bit out of shape and had to bail, landing at the bottom of the step with his bike nearly upside down. He was alright though and headed for the chicken track.
Tim lost traction on his approach and having a bloody 4WD up his arse also took the chicken track.
This is no easy chicken track and I helped the boys get through.
There were a few more steppy sections on the way to the top.
Headed South on the dirt road taking in as many singles as we knew.
Rode down the very steep decent into Westside loop and Tim had a few issues with the steep uphill on the way out. That is until he opted for the easier track Mick and I took which he absolutely flew up.
Heading South again, dropped down Razorback, then the rutted downhill single and around to the Gap servo for some fuel and food.
Met a couple of other KTM boys who were going in the same direction as us and I offered if they would like to follow. They were keen but they hadn’t eaten and we were getting bloody cold so we left them before my extremeties dropped off.
Did the Southside and our sweet single then climbed to the base of Amazon. We all had a great time getting through the first three sections and continued up under the cliffline and into the rain forest. I managed to fall off at the top of stage 5 (the slab) somehow. All was good so Tim continued to lead us up and we went left at stage 6 (tree root ladder) and rode through the gully and single all the up to the intersection.
More dirt road taking in all the singles to a right at the lower Monkey Face lookout rd where we used to rock climb many years ago.
Down a rough track and into the Bangalow area watching many Roo’s and Lyabird flee from the track.
Had a rest at the cabin, one of hardly any all day. Then out of Bangalow past the downhill pushy track, Becks rd, up the Quarry test (just Mick and I) and home via the alternative route. Finished off with our little single.
Top day out.
Home by 3:20 (may have to incorporate some more singles next time)
122kms
Checked the answering machine and had two messages from itsagas.
He had waited at the corner of Jilliby rd and Watagan forest rd for an hour and a half

The cliff line
The boys at the cabinJuly 9, 2011 at 3:25 pm #204615It is a little worrying Mal
But at this stage I will stick with the 4 strokers (Mainly because I’m lazy with changing gears)
Mind you I guess the lower weight of the 2 stroker puts that poor excuse to bed
Cheers
