Tonight MXTV roosts into anniversary year
There are only a few hours to go until MXTV’s first 2008 episode goes to air on Foxtel’s Aurora Channel 183 and Brendan Bell is one proud man.
Bell, who started the program from very humble beginnings seven years ago, said he was “extremely excited” this year would mark the 100th episode of the long-running favourite among Aussie dirt bike fans.
“It’s always been about making the show that I’d want to watch on TV,” Bell, who produces and hosts the program, said.
“I’ve always been a dirt bike person, so I guess we always had a hunch that if I liked it, then so would other people who loved the sport.”
MXTV has been popular among the dirt bike community and general public alike, gaining praise from some highly respected figures in the sport.
Bell said he was “exceptionally proud” of what had been achieved, with the show now in its eighth big year about to air its 100th episode.
“But we are still clearly focused on the road ahead,” Bell said. “Producing this many episodes of any show is a huge feat and believe me, we couldn’t be happier – but we’re not about to rest on what we’ve already produced.
“Our goal is to make this series of MXTV our best ever and we’re confident that’s exactly what we’re going to do.”
Bell said dirt bike fans were in for some “great viewing” when the 2008 season of MXTV kicked off tonight.
“The first two shows are USA Specials and have some fantastic segments, exclusive interviews and coverage from the AMA race scene,” he said.
“Then we launch into heaps of race coverage from Aussie events, including the MX Nationals and the AORC, and all the viewer favourites including (co-host) Lee’s rider tips, mechanical tips, rider interviews, ‘Factory’ Matt Manning’s products review and much more.”
MX TV will air every Tuesday at 8pm on Aurora (Foxtel Channel 183). The show will also be repeated throughout the week.

November 4, 2008 at 1:08 am #111084Hi mick hear is another release.
Hogan’s hit tips back on MXTV tonight
Lee Hogan, MXTV co-host and one of Australia’s premier riding coaches, will bring his popular rider tips back onto Aussie air waves tonight when the gate drops on MXTV episode five (season eight) at 8pm on Foxtel channel 183 (Aurora).
MXTV Producer Brendan Bell said Hogan’s rider tips were some of the most popular segments on Australia’s favourite dirt bike show.
“It’s great to be airing Lee’s first tip for the year on tonight’s show,” Bell said.
“Lee’s a very respected coach and his rider tips are an important part of MXTV.
“People find his advice really helpful… this season as always his tips will cover heaps of ground from advanced on-bike technique to off-bike tips and hints.”
Bell said tonight’s show would also include segments on the wild Condobolin 750, and the largest enduro event in the Southern Hemisphere, the Hog’s Breath Café Australian Four-Day Enduro (A4DE).
“Our enduro reporter, Robbo, is back tonight to review the A4DE and we chat to a bunch of the top enduro guys there,” Bell said.
“We also interview five-time MX World Champion Joel Smets who tried his hand at the A4DE this year and had a blast doing it.”
Bell said tonight’s show would also premier the first of spanner spinner Chad Talbot’s new mechanical tips.
“Chad from Chad’s Off-Road Set-Up’s is one of the best guys in the country when it comes to getting bikes race ready and we’ve stepped up his mechanical tips again this year,” Bell said.
“It’s gonna be another huge show tonight, so don’t miss it!”
MXTV will air every Tuesday at 8pm (7pm for Queenslanders) on Foxtel Channel 183 (Aurora). The show will also be repeated throughout the week.
