A change in career has seen a lot of my weekends taken up with work,( such is the nature of Real Estate sales) which has seen me with little time to ride my bike and engage in the shenanigans here on OBT.

Sunday offered the perfect opportunity for me to combine work with pleasure as I have just listed an 870 acre property west of Wauchope, up near Mount Seaview.
The property is on the Old Highway, one of the roads that leads you up to the famous Cells River area, so the bikes were the perfect vehicles to check out the property proper.

Moose didn’t take much convincing to tag along on his DR650 and my boss Troy, saw it as a great excuse to drag out his GS1200 ADV that he hasn’t ridden in the last year. So we met up with Troy at his place early Sunday morning, Troys place all but backs onto Bago, so we headed off across his property to a trail that leads to the bush. 300 meters after leaving Troy’s shed, Troy clipped a tiny little stump obscured by grass and the big GS hit the deck. I couldn’t believe how fast he got to his feet and had the big girl upright again. He wasn’t about to be photographed rolling around on the ground! No damage done and we were soon on our way again.

WE headed up through Bago to our first stop at Comboyne Rock to check out the view.

We left the Rock and headed out across the Comboyne Plateau, with a detour across my inlaw’s property we went down the hill off the end of Ponsford road to Ellenborough and onto Long Flat for a mid morning snack and a top up of fuel for my XR.

We then headed west up the Oxley highway until we found where the Old Highway began, we went through the gate and cruised up through some great riding country until the road meets an old Queensland gate. We let ourselves through and that is basically where the property starts. We rode the boundary until we came across the clearing that has a hut and an old van that I would be willing to bet Malcolm Naden took advantage of more than once.

We headed off and explored the property that has plenty of cleared ridges and some challenging hills perfect for dirt bikes! The list price of this property is a steal for a 870 acre property!

After we rode around for a while we found ourselves back on the Old Highway heading west until we met Ralph’s Trail which leads you up to the Oxley Highway not all that far from Gingers Creek. With Moose setting the pace down the mountain on the tar, I was battling fairly well to stick with him on motocross knobbies, that were completely shagged by the time we got to the bottom of the hill! That is seriously great fun on a dirt bike on the hot mix section of the mountain!

WE also took the opportunity to check out another property we have listed up in the Forbes river area. This is another hidden spot that would make a great dirtbike weekender as it is 454 acres of bush with a big shed that is fitted out as a one bedroom unit. The owners haven’t been to the property for over a year so are keen to sell it, if anyone is interested.

By this stage the day had gotten too hot to ride so the suggestion of a counter lunch and a few schooners at Long Flat pub met no opposition. That finished off a great day out on the bikes in some great country very nicely!
