Hi guys,
2 days ago I picked up a 1997 dr800 motard.
theres a few ‘dodgy’ things about it, but all are easy fixes.
its a bit of a hybrid i guess with kx forks, crf plastics and some local fibreglass work.
rear rim is a 4.25 and the front is a 3.50.

handles well with heaps of grunt!
a welcome change after my cbr250r or the xt250t!
(not to mention the xrm110 and the hybrid tsr/zongshen dirt bike i built for the missus!)…

next project is a xt250t running kawasaki ‘balius’ forks, swingarm and rims…
heaps cheaper to run than the dr but not as much fun!

Is that Powered by the “DR Big” engine bored out/stroked to 800cc.Sorry I don’t even remember if the Dr big was a single or water cooled etc that was in the late 80s. Sounds insane love to hear more about it. A link would be great if possible. Aaron.

yeah shes a 800 alright. (I think its basically the same donk as a 750). not such great speed but a real thumper.

ill try to upload a link of a site in france with some pics of some pretty sick things people have done to these bikes. Some of them look pretty wicked! (ill try posting a couple at the bottom of the page).

As for the air intakes? well I dropped them off today and it looked better without them- not that they do anything anyway!

Ill cut the black side covers to fit the contour of the bike better and have them and the rear guard (and maybe radiator shrouds) carbon fibred.

I’ll fit a oval bosch spotty under the headlight with another HID in it. one for low, one for high as i dont hve a hi/lo HID, only 2 singles. (also the acerbis headlight is best for low beam only anyway).

yes it has a the steering damper. but it’s absolutely useless anyway, so ill p-ss it off (spotty will go there anyway).

you guys should see the carbon fibre work they do here. Its not bad and crikey its cheap. (comes with a 6mth warranty so cant be too bad). I’ll post some pics as the project comes along.
ill have to hurry though, as Im due back middle of next month…

heres a couple fom a french website: philippecastaldin.jpg
