Hey Rat. What year is your IT? I have just finished my project bike, 1979 yz 250. Great fun to ride. Hope to see the finished product.

Hi Rat – Great bike to do a resto on :) Looks like a money pit as all projects are :( I have a bloke up the road doing the same resto. Let me know if you need parts and i can ask. Always wanted an IT when i was young but couldn’t afford it…or handle it ;)

Can’t wait to see the finished product. :woohoo:

    Hey rat,
Why not get the 465 or 490 IT???
I owned both in my youth. 👿 :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
After getting my mate to ride my first bike home from the shop. (a big brand new DT175) Because I had never riden a bike in my life thus far.
Next bike was a big bore 2T
I do believe the 465 was a nastier bike, but the 490 had the suspension sorted. Suspension/tyres makes an average rider look better every time. (at least thats what I go on)
Looks like a good project, Rat. B)
    Cheers

Hey Murph, that was my first ‘new’ bike too…DT175 with the ‘air induction’ system ;) Use to park in the teachers car park and double my mates home with no helmets just to piss em off 👿 . Lunch time ciggy and passion pop runs  B) ..ahhh the memories you just bought back :)

    just an update…
the engine has been rebuilt and awaiting a couple of small items to finish it, then back into the frame. Ive picked up 2 brand new tyres for the bike. I’ll probably rattlecan paint it as its easy to touch up if needed.
The rest of the bike will be cleaned and refitted, hopefully soon.
    Pics to come…

I missed the Classic Dirt 9 this year, did anyone go?
I hope to go to CD10 next year with both IT250 and the IT400 as well as my TY250a.

The IT250 is almost complete, the engine is back in the frame after a new shift shaft was fitted and the countershaft was re-threaded. I have to buy a new inlet manifold(unless someone is willing to part with 1), find the newish rear guard and finish the wiring to finally start it.
So its finally getting to be in one piece again!!!
Im not sure if it will be complete for CD10, but the TY250a and the IT400 is ready!

more on the looong rebuild of the IT. Ive had to lash out on a new intake manifold and a few bits from Motoduro and now it looks like I have to get back to them on more bits. The clutch cable holder is the problem now as I cant find 1 in OZ or the US, so its back to Blighty.
In the meantime Ive bought a pair of IT 175’s, 1 complete and goes!!! The other was a parts bike, but it will also grace the road.
Ill get some new pics up here of the 3(or 4) bikes this week.
