My kids are going to end up hating me you know!

Hi guys,

I wasn’t going to join up because my hubby, DanD, spends all of his time checking out the forum and I was pretty sure that the kids would get really cranky if I did the same thing but I started looking around and then couldn’t stop.

I started riding when I was 17 on a DT175 but I was slack and let my learners run out and that was that. After a 10 year break from riding (and we can still never work out why) my hubby got back into it and then I got a tad cranky because he was going out all the time and having a great time while I stayed home and looked after the kids. So eventually I decided to get back into it and I’ve been riding again for nearly 2 years now.

In that time I’ve had 4 bikes. No. 1 was a DT 175 – to re-live the old days but it doesn’t work out so well when everyone else has electric start but you. No. 2 was an XT 250 but I had a ride of Racey Tracy’s TTR 230 (we work together and we are also friends) one day and realised how difficult the steering was in the single trail on the XT. So No. 3 involved a 10-hour day trip to Armidale, kids in tow (with DVD player that unfornately burned out just before we got back), to pick up a TTR 230 that we’d only seen a picture of. No 4. was the TTR 250 which I felt had better suspension than the TTR 230 but I have a very temperamental back so I noticed it whereas Tracy and nobody else did. I love my TTR250 now. My hubby even offered to get me a WR 250R but I turned it down because I’ve got everything right now (except for the falling off it bit).

Me and hubby as well as another couple of guys try to get out at least twice a month and generally stick around the Watagans. Sometimes we head out to Killi or Mount Sugarloaf if we haven’t got as much time to ride. DanD and I also recently rode from home (Teralba) to Wiseman’s Ferry through the Watagans and then down Mogo Creek Road to St Albans and through to Wisemans Ferry. We stayed overnight and then rode back the next day. We had a great time and I would love to do more distance riding. Unfortunately this made me realise that I think I really want a road bike (hint hint DanD).

Like everyone, I have heaps of really funny riding stories to tell and maybe sometime I’ll get the opportunity to swap some of them with you.

I think that’s enough and no I am not going to tell you the colour of my undies.

We took a vote and reckon they were pink undies,that changed colour when you got to the big down hill…LOL
Good onya for flying the flag for the female camp,I have a Young Heifer in training now, so I love it when I see girls out on the trails.

Kylie, please don’t write things that will get the boys excited, they won’t sleep. Especially Gili who is yet to feel the warmth of a good woman :silly:

Ride sounds good, I’m pretty busy around Chrizza with family down from Noosa. Let me know anyway and I’ll do my best. Getting away from the madhouse and going for a ride sounds great!

Nice advice Kylie – might have to give this a go next time & we can compare comfort notes….
