Welcome to the site.
October 7, 2009 at 8:36 pm #155572Welcome Magic, I too had the billfish bug and fished for marlin for years(the addiction was so bad I had a 20 year lay off from riding bikes) I have tagged and released my fair share of marlin and other high speed pelagics. Having been there done that, I am toying with unloading some of my rods, reels and associated gear (24kg,15kg and 10kg outfits),if you are interested, to help finance a 85 big wheel upgrade for my son. Where are you based at? Did you take that pic of the black in full flight? Here is my favourite shot I took of a mate hooked up to a baby black.I won a depth sounder with this pic.
Anyway cheers and thanks for the intro.
Cheers

AnonymousWelcome to OBT magic and happy birthday as well me old fruit!
October 9, 2009 at 4:58 am #155581Nows the time sell there will be guys looking for the 10/15Kg out fits with the new rule change for Tag & Release. Yep I snaped that shot in Cairns estimated 350Kg,I know the feeling I have had a 12 year break, broke my leg riding a Pony Express in Denman then my arm on my birthday ride 5 weeks later, top way to spend your birthday in hospital.Anyhow the misses read the riot act ‘get rid of the bike or’ you know the story. So I got rid of the bike and went fishing, she still left any way, but good news the new bride rides a TTR 125 and my little girls Raptor quads.Jeese I was getting a bit deep there sorry.Old Bull fishing trip sound good,I will have my boat at Port Stephens from Xmas through to April thats the time when the Striped Marlin turn up as you would know so when it is going off I will let you know.Attached photo of my boat Magic is her name.
Cheers

Biggest fish I ever caught was a 1mtr hammerhead and it felt like an old boot.
I would be keen to have a go at the big stuff or even a run after some snapper or whatever and Port Stephens isn’t far from me (Central Coast).October 9, 2009 at 8:07 am #155760have to hook up for a ride and get something happening.SHARKS are like trying to wind a bucket in.Always fun on the Magic starting to sound like a fishing forum, need more mud before marlin.

First started fishing the Golden Lure in a 17 foot center console and came runner up in the T&R. AS a matter of fact we came runner up 4 times, always the bridesmaid,I am afraid.
