    Copied this from ADVrider:

This needs your support to ensure that it becomes more than just another photo opportunity for politicians.

I’ve just seen the new campaign website, Every Australian Counts. I support the NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme). Australians with a disability, their families and carers deserve a fair go.

I am standing up and counting myself in.

Will you join the campaign? – http://www.everyaustraliancounts.com.au

    Ozhank,

Thanks for letting us know about the push for the NDIS. I’ve just had a quick look on the website and I’m having trouble working out how the scheme is funded. Would we all contribute somehow (eg inbuilt cost as part of car rego or similar) or is the scheme purely funded from the federal coffers (meaning funded by taxpayers). I couldn’t really find anything on there that shows how it works and that it is actually viable in the long term. I did only have a very quick look though. The cause is great but only proposals that can achieve the desired outcomes should be supported. I’m sure it has all been thought through to get this far but I just wanted to see how it is proposed to work.

As far as I can tell, it is to be funded by the Federal Government by our federal taxes ie income tax, GST etc. Tony Abbott has recently stated that if elected, it is some time down the road.
