I know of no other “protective” device that causes other injuries in providing protection. I really have strong concerns about a device that can cause other injuries.
Surly these things need to be tested to an Australian standard.Hey Jimmy,
We may never know………….but i would prefer to be able to walk again, let alone ride a bike again in the event of a neck injury from bike riding (which me and my kids love) that prevented me from doing so. It is a piece of safety equipment that is optional and is designed to enhance the mandatory safety equipment that we use. Many people have decided to use one with the thought in mind that it may actually save them from a “SERIOUS” Injury and i am of the same view.
It is no different to wearing a seat belt in a vehicle………it “may” cause an injury in the unfortunate event of an impact. But i know what i would prefer.Lefty
July 28, 2011 at 9:39 am #205464Having been off the bike for a while due to a neck injury (Work not bike) and about to go under the knife to get some titanium put in the neck, a neck brace is a top priority for me right now. I’ve never felt I’ve needed one before, but after speaking with my neurosurgeon and now understanding how fragile the neck can be, I’ll be out shopping the first week after surgery, the actual riding part may take a bit longer.
July 28, 2011 at 12:33 pm #205653Yeah i can see the views from both sides. I think I will buy one and see if i can ride comfortably with it. Hopefully it doesnt cause another injury, but if just once it prevents a serious neck injury id say it would be worth it. But once i get one ill let you all know how if id recommend one.

June 25, 2014 at 12:12 pm #205465Just to dust this topic off again, I bought a Leatt ‘GPX Trail’ (new version of the Adventure).
My old “Thor Impact Rig” has been great but is now well and truly past it. Question being has anyone used the Leatt pressure suit type armour? I have done some research on it and a few people are saying it the armour panels fall off, the jacket material it-self tears when the velcro touches it and the zips used on sleeves etc are sheit (according to the online reviews). So anyone who has this Leatt suit, what do you think? Or anyone who has a Leatt brace using it with any other pressure suit armour how does it go?Thanks, B.W.

Hey Leo I think that is what Lefty has actually. He hasn’t had it very long so any longevity testing is a while off yet. He likes it, and it works with his brace. Will it last, that’s the question isn’t it
I will tell him you are asking

Hey B.W.
I too have the same neckbrace and was able to make it work with my klim suit by cutting out a section of the backpad, but I went and bought myself the forcefield body armour so I could just wear a jersey on hotter days, I think it may be called the extreme adventure harness or something like that, not sure anyway
the armours great, nice and tough, no damage or faults to complain of although its hot in summer which unfortunately is what I was trying to avoid with the jacket in the first place.
Also I have ditched the neckbrace as the singlet type shape of the armour seems to push the brace up to high, not allowing me to turn my head that well but in saying that if you have a longer neck than I do, it sits over the armour quite well. You could also try the brace underneath but might just be a bit of friggin around adjusting all the Velcro attachments every time you put it on, I leave mine fastened together and the brace doesn’t work over the top of the armour for me.James
June 25, 2014 at 4:21 pm #205466I just order the same Leo from Suttos
Should have it soon I be interest in how you go with yours . My body armour is a AXO suite which works well trust me on that :cheer:
So I will have to see how it goes with that
I know fuchsy has trouble if he wheres his body armour with fitting the neck brace,so I say it just comes down on trying what works for you mate.
How’s
the arm getting better mateCheers

June 26, 2014 at 1:36 am #257849Yeah TB that is what I have. So far so good. But I only use the chest and back protector not the full kit. Longevity is still in question but we will see and give me another few months and I will report on it.
Cheers,
LeftyPS; it will be bloody hot I reckon in summer…..
June 26, 2014 at 1:44 am #205467Currently i am in a full back brace from hitting a tree 7 weeks ago. i compressed fractured the t4 vertebra and the L4 plus a heap of other bones
. I was wearing a shoei helmet and a leatt gpx neck brace, i believe the bottom of the brace caused the t4 fracture but if i was not wearing it i believe it could have been alot worse, as gibbitt said i do not ride without it.
Cheers LoftyJune 28, 2014 at 8:56 am #205468Thanks for your replies blokes. I might have to go do a bit more looking around at the suit in the flesh. Suttos here I come :woohoo: .
June 30, 2014 at 10:18 am #257926After a mate and good tradie I work with broke his neck on the weekend I will be looking into these much more seriously , he rides a different type of terrain to me but it just shows it can happen to us anytime

November 2, 2014 at 11:27 pm #257854So how’s the armour going now Lefty? I’ve tracked down a cheap Leatt adventure suit and having not ridden in about 6 months I’m going to need it
