I love your current avatar. It is a very apt reminder that we all have a lot to be grateful for and that we must remember with gratitute the sacrifices made by many for us to be free.
Your right TT ,
tomorrow is 11/11/11 and at 11am take a minutes silence to remember the end of WW1 and the fallen.
I had great grandparents in this war as I’m sure a lot of old bulls did ,
For those that don’t know the poppy is often worn to symbolize this day because although devastated farm land used as battle fields during the war thousands of poppies still grew on these fields in spring.
Top stuff Nick, we all get caught up in day to day stuff, tomorrow is one of many important days for us to remember the fallen, and to those who gave everything for us, their kids, to live with the freedom we all enjoy! Brings people back to earth and realise things aren’t so bad!
Its sometimes hard to think about events of 100 years ago, but we can always give a thought to the poor brave bastards doing it tough in Afghanistan at the moment
Yes I always like to remember. I talk about it with my two sons aswell so they can understand what the diggers went through. It make me heaps proud to say and be an Australian.
I was working at Yamba Waters Holiday Park this morning , I was drilling and banging around as usual , campers had music going and knocking in tent pegs , the groundsmen where on the hedge cutter and chainsaw cleaning up the park for Yambas huge hot rod weekend.
I stopped work at 10.59 ready for the minutes silence and wondered who would do the same.
At 11am the whole place fell silent even the wind seemed to drop off. One camper had their car radio on tuned to ABC I think and the sound of ‘The Last Post’ swirled around the park.
