Thanks heaps to Bob and Michelle and the kids for putting up with us again.

We rode every type of terrain you could imagine, fast open, tight pine forest single, bush single, rocky twin trail and even some muddy swamp. Plus a motocross track :woohoo:

Highlights include Ev’s 58 thousand attempts at a hill climb (he is like a dog with a bone :) ), slippery pine singles, the Australian off road championship single track and an Old Bulls race complete with race start.

Bobs boy Josh gave us a guided tour of his many tracks around the farm, heaps of fun watching him rip it up on the Pee Wee, he loves the water crossing

No pics or vids from me I’ll leave that up to the professionals

As said before what a great weekend :woohoo:

Bob has some fantastic tracks, too many infact as he wore me out

My apologies to Rocket for rear ending him  and my thanks to the crew for sorting my tyre issue out after :)

We met up with Bob’s family out in the forest for a ripper BBQ lunch, a refuel and quick tyre change and thanks to Michelle for bringing the BBQ, fuel and a spare tyre out

Watching Ev wore me out  Ev is a machine ;) his persistance is unrivalled

And thanks to Galey and Nath for the help on the two hills that caught me out ;) I was rapidly running out of energy

On Sunday I was in two minds as to whether I would ride or stay back with Nath and Jason and sample some pale ale :S

The ride won but it wasn’t long before I realized my minds view of my fitness was greater than my bodies view and I was tiring :(

Any way Bob said I could take the option of getting out where we were or go a little bit further and would be closer to the escape route :) So I thought go a little bit further ;) Any way after one more off on a down hill I got my rhythm partially back and even made it up a section others had difficulty with only to end up back where we were fifteen minutes earlier

So I took the bail out route back to Bobs, and much to the joy of Josh who very quickly kitted himself up when he saw me, for my hour long tour of his pee wee 50 track  It brought back memories of chasing a young Sam around our back paddock B) at least I can keep up with Josh, just  but not for much longer

Many thanks to Bob and his family’s hospitality :) and thanks to the boys for a great weekend :woohoo:

    Adam.

Bob got the jump off the start (I think he cheated) then proceeded to do a big broad side slide into the first corner blocking off the whole track, shunting into Matt and Mal, Rocket got around the outside and I snuck up the inside on the grass, Rocket roosted me in a big mud puddle a few corners later so I pulled of the track, young Sam was in the lead a couple of corners later and no one else had the speed or fitness to catch up

This was an awesome ride in which we rode a mix of terrain from fast flowing, twisty fire trails, rocky rutted hill climbs on fire trails to perfect pine forest single tracks. Bob even threw in a couple of hill climbs for the hard core to try their luck at.

We headed off into the bush with a hardy group of ten riders being , Bob (Scratched up WR450) , LC (FE450) Ev(WR450) Rocket(KTM300) , Mal5.1 “Can Ride” (Heavily Blinged up Christophe Nambotin GASGAS 300) Jason ( XR400) Nathan (KTM400) Adam (KTM350) Sam (KTM250) and myself (KTM300). Mal chose to sweep first up.

Bob looked after us by running us through some nice shady fire trails that had held its moisture after the rain the day before. A few slippery corners kept things lively with Jason finding the scrub on more than one occasion. Nathan nearly found out the hard way that red clay = slippery as, when he pushed hard through one corner.

Then it happened, I blame it on Bob for failing to mark a log length ways on the track covered in grass and litter. Jason failed to see it and did a scooter grind on it with one wheel either side of the log caused a blocked track with Rocket stopped behind him. Adam was flying on the Orange beast, so much in fact that he failed to see the melee ahead and couldn’t pull up the Enduro weapon and slammed into the rear of Rocket’s 300 and going over the bars. Adam was a little sore and red faced with a smashed light, LH radiator shroud, bent lever and bar. Rocket was OK except for a couple of broken screws holding the rear light.

We carried on to regroup with our fearless leader and when I came up to pass Adam, as he was off the pace a little as expected after the bingle, I checked his rear tyre to see if he had a puncture but it was good and so I continued on to the lads. Adam however had a flat front and pulled up to fix it.

The tyre had been sliced in two parts from the crash dumping the air out of his Tubliss system. A tube was put in but it may have been pinched on the way in? , but a bit of head scratching was going on so as Bob famously says “just make a decision”.

So I suggested Mal put his mousse tube in the stuffed tyre and Adam could have Mal’s good tyre. Well I haven’t heard bitching and moaning since I last went riding with Mal, so I offered Adam my front tyre to use with another tube and I would take his split tyre to use with my mousse. NOW TB DON’T GET STARTED ON THE TUBLISS SYSTEM AS THIS WAS A FREAK OCCURANCE WITH THE TYRE GETTING SLASHED!

Mal had the stopwatch out for the tyre change but it was a blur of levers, gloves ,bullants, tyres and mousse as well as Ev pitching in with “I just don’t get it” concerning the mousse. The only thing was Adam’s Pirelli had a taller profile than my Dunlop and it meant I was now riding on about 6psi. Good in the wet muddy sections, not so in the rocks. So I did the sweep duties till near lunch which freed Mal up to get some footage. Adam was sorted and we were underway again.

Some large steaks and ominus clouds meant only 4 of us were keen for an arvo ride. we went about 3ks and got smashed by a hail storm easily the worst conditions I have ridden in and I would have bailed but i was sweep, after 5mins we were in town and Bob lead us into someones garage we waited 10 mins and it cleared up, then we rode some nice single trail before heading home for dinner.

    Day 2
Adam and his son Sam had arrived overnight plus Galey made 10. We rode for a few hours untill Adams Flat, changed that then did some open fire trails, at times the pace red hot and by the time we met Michelle and the kids for lunch everyone was feeling it.

Adam changed his tyre again as it had been leaking (he did well to keep up because it was almost fully flat).
After lunch we had a go at a hill, not very big but steep it was one wide rut with a dog leg so you couldnt hit it at full speed add some roots and loose rocks and a small step right near the top and it was pretty hard. One of those hills were bailing out gracefully was hard and turning around even harder.
Sam and LC made it after a couple of gos, me Galey, Rocket and Jason tried our best but couldnt get it.
I peaked at about try 3 and gradually got worse and worse in the end it turned into a clinic on how to turn your bike around an a hill.
We did a few easier hills then some more pine singles the pace was flat out and fatigue was taking its toll on everyone.
About 7ish a group bailed and a few of us did some more single track untill dark, had dinner then watched the vids of the day including commentary from Bob that had us all in stitches.

    GDay LC4,

Sounds llike a great ride mate. Chatting with Galey he mentioned that you were down sth here, i am actually at Menai and another mate is at Mt Keira and we ride with Galey and Mal quite often, making the trek over the Mountains.

We will have to organise a weekend down the South Coast and get the Bathurst boys down for some dark loamy soil around Batemans Bay to Araluen.

I will put it out there for anyone who could lead a ride around these areas and a stay at Araluen Pub.

    Catch up soon Marty 450
