Spoke to Chris Thomas of Thomas Lee Motorcycles two days ago who said a guy came into the shop claiming he has one of each of the above mentioned bikes brand new. Both classic bikes that have yet to be replaced by new examples from any manufacturers. The KTM690 it seems goes close but if you follow Mick,TB Kasuyaho and Chickens posts it does not. The CR500E IMO will never be repeated. Well here is the clincher he want’s 15 gorillas for each. The only problem with this is, if you ride it, its a second hand trail bike. Yeah we could all joke that the XR is worth 15 cents but it seems that once you own one they kind of grow on you. If you have watched “The Beast” With Eric Banna and his ?XB Falcon you will get an idea of the connection a person can get with an inanimate object. Is the hype worth that much? It could be in a few years time. Ask Boll and STM how much you would pay for a brand new 1980ish PK Ripper…Lots!

Good condition 500 e for 10.5 That’s $1.50 per k to buy the new one and get it to this state. The guy states. ” I don’t remember if I have ever flipped it!” Like you would forget that unless you ended up in hospital with amnesia! Hope the link worked.December 18, 2010 at 5:09 am #192923As a BRP owner / lover and someone that has ridden one I feel I can say I wouldnt pay 15k for one with zero kilometers because well what are you going to do with it? Ride it and then its not worth 15k
The CR500E well I dont know, I have long said it would be the only bike I would swap my BRP for a rego CR500
Good luck to him both classics and someone will buy them I reckon
Thanks for sharing that Aaron

December 18, 2010 at 5:53 am #192917Apparently there are some 07 650R’s still in the USA brand new,
that can be picked up for a song. The problem is the bike doesn’t wear fast enough to have to go buy another one.
December 18, 2010 at 7:57 am #192918Can you rego a CR500?

December 18, 2010 at 8:26 am #192936if i remember correctly, TB mentioned some time ago that there was a company that got some CR500’s ADR approved. i’d guess special order kind of thing. they only did a limited number, why there are few if any left.
December 18, 2010 at 8:40 am #192937I was told Woodys Motorcycles at Wyong are doing WMW500 that are a registered CR500, new apparently but over 20k.

I met one of the owners of these beasts through a guy at work.
His bike is a work of art, he was out at Finke with us, I caught him as he came out of the Desert Edge fuel stop, great having all that power, although for the average rider it wasn’t doing him any favours, he hung with me a while at my slow pace in the whoops then dropped off.
He had a few dramas with fuel vapourising, still finished Finke & got a spike.
December 18, 2010 at 11:20 am #192919Not an entirely unexpected response TB yes it would be worth it if you were never going to ride it. I think that it would be worth the 15 to have a ride on the cr in motard guise what fun. The police would understand that it is impossible to keep the front wheel on the ground. A gassit type responce
December 18, 2010 at 11:24 am #192989If you want a CR500 then the service honda CR500AFX is the one to own. Jeffery Honda in Victoria are one if the importers. These things are a work of art.
December 19, 2010 at 11:22 pm #192991I have seen the CR500 engine in the Modern CRF frames but they would not be registered or is that what the X stands for in the name.
December 22, 2010 at 6:12 am #192920Just went and photographed the two beasts and all I can say is that when I get home I will be posting pure unadulterated sex. The xr is dead stock but the cr has mods and looks sweet. Both have not been ridden
December 22, 2010 at 11:20 am #192921Well here they are guys. It sounds like a lot of cash but this thing is mint. All the original gear is available with it. If I had the money I would do it but as you can see I’m riding a busted arse WR
In the flesh it looks amazing and has NEVER been ridden.
Why would they wreck a bike By putting those 3 terrible letters on the number plate
Crack the Cork on this 02 vintage Exhaust you would have to pull it out and take a whif. -
