thinking i might want a new set of goggles
i have a set of scott 89 xi desert goggles which i’m happy with they keep the dust out pretty well , still fog up abit occasionally but they have reasonable ventilation as well

apparently they must be a good goggle because i think they have discontinued them for cheaper crap now that fallls apart quicker ???

can buy them from states a few stray pairs left floating around but some of the freight is a killer

any ideas just want a good set to keep dust out with high density or good qualirty foam and tinted lenses
    they

    cheers

A few guys a ride with use the Oakleys and are happy with them.

I have a pair of 89s too. They’re ok but I can see the edge of the frame while riding and it gets a bit annoying. I won’t buy a new pair until the foam starts to fall out.

Good luck with it mate. Lets us know what you decide.

Oakley Crowbar’s – the best set of goggles I’ve even owned.

Have not met anyone who owns a pair that is disappointed with them.

I bought mine from the States on special. A few of us went in together and split the freight. The cost worked out at about $50 a pair. The only thing you have to look out for is that some US shops won’t ship from the States. If that happens either order some other gear as well (they’ll put them in the order with other gear they can ship) or use a freight forwarding company. I used PriceUSA, but I’ve heard shipitto is good to.

    Cheers

I have been really happy with Pro Grip’s with the light sensitive lenses. The frames have lasted through four sets of lenses and I chuck them in the washing machine so they are pretty tough. The light sensitive are dark when it’s bright and light when it’s not. Awesome if you ride in an area that has dappled light but not such a big deal out in the open.
I have seen them on special in Aus for as little as $69.

Its also a good idea to try the goggles on with your helmet
I had a set that would not seal around my face. They just didn’t fit inside my hat. (could be the shape of my head)
If you do buy from overseas make sure you can get lenses locally

I’ve had a couple of cheap pro grips too over the years. Both are still usable too. I machine wash them can’t kill them. Tore the foam out of the top of the older pair for wet days. Rode nearly all day with murph in the rain. That said the lenses for them are getting harder to find. I’ll go a set of fancy Oakleys/whatever if there is a group buy.
