    Hi all,

Thanks to TB for pointing me to this forum from another one I’m on [as many of us are].

    Located near Windsor NSW.

Riding an 09 Wee-Strom and an old 1987 KLR650 [looking at the Tenere 660z as a possible replacement for both though].

I recently got back on to trails on the KLR in an effort to rebuild my faded dirt skills so I could handle the Strom better on dirt.

Now I find I’m enjoying the bush again I’m thinking of looking for a bike that does better highway than the KLR and better dirt than the Wee.

57 years young qualifies me for the “old” part and many say I’m full of “bull”, so here I am.

    Cheers,
    Ock

Yes, as Ockrocket on ADV, Ockerstrom on Stromtrooper, and KLR650, and Austouring, and XT660.

Geez, I’m looking like a forum “tragic”.

    Thanks for the welcome.

Welcome Ockerstrom, I have been lurking on Stromtroopers for a while and cracked up when I read your thread.

    RETIRED HUSBAND

After I retired, my wife insisted that I accompany her on her trips to Target.

Unfortunately, like most men, I found shopping boring and preferred to get in and get out. Equally unfortunate, my wife is like most women – she loves to browse.

Yesterday my dear wife received the following letter from the local Target:

    Dear Mrs. Harris,

Over the past six months, your husband has caused quite a commotion in our store. We cannot tolerate this behavior and have been forced to ban bo th of you from the store.
Our complaints against your husband, Mr. Harris, are listed below and are documented by our video surveillance cameras:

    1. June 15: He took 24 boxes of condoms and randomly put them in other people’s carts when they weren’t looking.

    2. July 2: Set all the alarm clocks in Housewares to go off at 5-minute
    Intervals.

    3. July 7: He made a trail of tomato juice on the floor leading to the women’s restroom.

    4. July 19: Walked up to an employee and told her in an official voice, “Code 3 in Housewares. Get on it right away.” This caused the employee to leave her assigned station and receive a reprimand from her Supervisor that in turn resulted with a union grievance, causing management to lose time and costing the company money.

    5. August 4: Went to the Service Desk and tried to put a bag of M&Ms on layaway.

    6. August 14: Moved a “CAUTION – WET FLOOR” sign to a carpeted area.

    7. August 15: Set up a tent in the camping department and told the children shoppers he’d invite them in if they would bring pillows and blankets from the bedding department to which twenty children obliged.

    8. August 23: When a clerk asked if they could help him he began crying and screamed, “Why can’t you people just leave me alone?” EMTs were called.

    9. September 4: Looked right into the security camera and used it as a mirror while he picked his nose.

    10. September 10: While handling guns in the hunting department, he asked the clerk where the antidepressants were?

    11. October 3: Darted around the store suspiciously while loudly humming the “Mission Impossible” theme.

    12. October 6: In the auto department, he practiced his “Madonna look” by using different sizes of funnels.

    13. October 18: Hid in a clothing rack and when people browsed through, yelled “PICK ME! PICK ME!”

    14. October 21: When an announcement came over the loud speaker, he assumed a fetal position and screamed, “OH NO! IT’S THOSE VOICES AGAIN!”

    And last, but not least:

    15. October 23: Went into a fitting room, shut the door, waited awhile, then yelled very loudly, “Hey! There’s no toilet paper in here.” One of the clerks passed out.

    Hi Steve,

Glad it gave you a laugh. .

Are you thinking of getting a Strom?

If you are in my area and want a test ride on one send me a PM [I had trouble getting a ride, managed to get a spin on a demo 1000 but bought the Wee 650 without having ridden one- absolutely no regrets there :woohoo:

I have an old 1987 KLR650 as well and am re-learning my dirt skills [rusted away after 30 something years].

Absolutely loving having got back in to trail riding.
Seriously considering the Ten660 or maybe a modded DR650 [either second hand, the budget can’t handle new and the Wee and KLR would both end up going, but the Wee is such a good bike I’m still in two minds].
If they both go it has to be for something that does highway easily and does good dirt as well.

    Cheers,
    Ock

Hi Ocker, Thanks for the offer of the test ride. I just have to pick mine up from QLD(dad’s old bike).
Yeah I dont think you could go past the simplicity and capability of the DR650 but the Tenere do look good :) . I hope to get a DR 650 and keep the Wee B) . cheers Steve

Welcome Steve, may have a good Tenere for sale at Christmas ;) 😆 but as I said before even if I haven’t come and take it for a ride and see if it’s what you want.

Will see you over the weekend maybe sat? I will be doing some maintenance on mine for Sunday and I think we are going over Deejays. As well here at home

I will try to drop your chain breaker back on Saturday morning, going to St Mary’s to pick up a speedo cable for the KLR too (assuming the Mrs. is doing ok after Friday treatment).

I definitely want to get a ride on your Ten660 and warned the Mrs. when I got back from your place the other day that I might look at buying when you are ready to sell.

Will call or text you before I come up just to coordinate a suitable time with you.

    Cheers,
    Ock
