Hi to all OBT members.
I have been trying to introduce myself for a while now but can’t seem to achieve it yet, so I thought I give this way ago.
I am an experienced rider on the wrong side of 60. I have re-taken up trail riding with my mates of a similar vintage in the Far South Coast region of NSW based around Bega, after a 20 year break from my mid 30’s to by late 50’s.
I’ve owned about 30 odd dirt bikes & about 15 quads since my first bike ( a 250 BSA at the age of 14). My current ride is a 2012 Husaberg FE570 ( it’s a Berg with the LOT) and its a way way better bike than I can do justice to. I’ve also about to pick up a new Christini 450 AWD bike ( fully optioned) from Jeff Gleeson in Coffs Harbour to play in the real gnarly stuff. The next addition to the stable will be a KTM 1190 R in 2014/5 for not so strenuous riding.
My mates and I have done 3 overseas off road holiday bike rides in the last 3 years. In 2011 we did Cambodia on XR 250 Hondas – in 2012 we did Argentina along the east side of the Andes on XR 400 Hondas and early this year we did Cambodia in different areas than before on Yamaha 450’s.
I was wondering if there are any OBT members in my area who would enjoy a ride with older (read no longer that fast) riders who known this area very well.
I gather that most NSW OBT members are located in the Sydney and north NSW areas but I ( any some of my mates) can travel and I am keen to explore other areas.
Bye for now
Ross

July 31, 2013 at 10:04 am #247364Welcome Ross,
We have a couple from the south of Sydney but maybe not that far. A few ride Batemans Bay area occasionally I believe. I think LC4skin and his brother might be our most southern NSW members other than yourself.

Welcome to OBT, you sure have come to the right place to join rides all around this great country of ours. There are a few of us who ride, Milton,Batemans Bay,Araluen etc, it is a fair way North for you but well worth the trip as it is prime riding.
See you on the trails sometime.
Great to see you are out there at 60, nice work mate.
Cheers Marty

July 31, 2013 at 10:27 am #247370Hi Marty
We have done a few rides up to the Tuross River and beyond – and I was thinking of doing the KTM Tours ride on 17/18 August centred around Batemans Bay but its probably too late to get a start in this ride at such a late stage. Anyway – we are slowly working our way around tracks about 100 km or more from Home so we’ll be there sooner than later.
Cheers Ross
July 31, 2013 at 10:53 am #247371Hi Ace
Just get out & make the O/S and other adventures happen. A weeks or so adventure will buy you memories that will last for the rest of your life.
Me and my older mates have finally realised that life is way toooooo short. Sitting around bench racing in my slippers at 75’s is not what it’s all about.
O/S trips to 3rd (or all most) are a real eye opener – making us realise how fortunate we really are.
I lived most my life working 80/100 hours weeks from the age of 25 to 55 without making enough time for Family/ Friends and the only pastime I previously enjoyed – DIRT BIKE RIDING. DON’T let it happen to you.
Cheers

We get out a bit with the site. Great crew. You should check out one of the navigation rides…great fun. :woohoo:
