I just found this article from the Manning River Times in the Wauchope area regarding 60kph speed limits in ALL NSW STATE FORESTS  Watch out all adventure riders, it would be more of a worry for them or even transporting sections we all go faster then 60 from time to time
How did you miss this Mick  this is your paper network and you never said boo I had to find it
Have you forgotten us since you wrote the article about your mate Rob and the Wauchope boys club, life saving clubs etc    and dont bother telling me you already knew  :laugh:You have been scooped
Anyway back on topic, be aware its an easy source of revenue I think

October 6, 2010 at 7:22 pm #188550It has been the speed limit in the forest for years, must have been a slow news day in Taree.
There must be a push to educate the masses, as in the last year they have put up 60km signs on several of the main entrances to the bush around here.

October 6, 2010 at 10:57 pm #188545Should we expect to see mobile speed cameras on ford territory’s or Drz mounted police with radars on their helmets. They might use point to point cameras but the corner man system would mean we would be safe. Boony because you are always in front you would have to slow down. They could use the old “pigs in space” trick timing vehicles between two white lines painted on the road. But the white lines would also be easy to spot. Cant imagine the highway patrol up this way would venture too far off the black top with SS commodores on 45 series tires. I wonder if those green candy cars would blend in to the schrubs and be hard to spot? Although if somebody did get injured and chopperd out they could involve the accident investigation crew and measure the skid marks. They could have us there. No I dont think we will have much of a problem
October 7, 2010 at 1:29 am #188563“As a result Forests NSW has introduced a policy of 60 km/h unless otherwise signposted on all unsealed gravel roads under clause 13(5) of the Forestry Regulation 2009.”
Forestry Regulation 2009 Clause 13
Control and management of State forests, timber reserves and flora(5) The commission may, by displaying a notice to that effect in a conspicuous position in or in the immediate vicinity of a forestry area or a part of a forestry area, fix the maximum speed at which any vehicle or machine, or any vehicle or machine of a class specified in the notice, may be driven in that area or that part of an area.
(6) A person who drives a vehicle or machine in a forestry area in excess of the speed specified in a notice displayed in accordance with subclause (5) is guilty of an offence.
Maximum penalty: 20 penalty units.Looks like it will be a breach of some forestry act rather than any Road Transport Act so unlikely to see any RTA speed cameras or highway patrol put there enforcing the 60km limit. The problem is if they do catch yo some how the maximum penalty is steep. 1 penalty unit is currently $110. So thats a possibly $2200 fine.

October 7, 2010 at 2:50 am #188578As bad as this sounds I was just thinking how good it would be to catch some unregistered MX/crusty demons type of dickhead out in the forest going over 60kph. Get him unregistered, uninsured and no doubt unlicensed. Now tac on fail to comply with clause 13(5) of the Forestry Regulation 2009. Gunna be a very expensive day for dickhead and I bet last time he rides unreg in the forest.
October 7, 2010 at 3:03 am #188581I was pulled over by the police in Bunyip State Forest in Victoria last year and was advised by them that I could have been booked for speeding as I was doing well over 60Kph. The law here in Vic as I was told is if there is no speed limit sign the speed limit is then 60kph on a marginal road he also informed me that I also could have been booked for breaking traction and not in proper control of the motorbike but all they were really interested in was that we were licensed, proper helmet etc & had Rec Reg or Full Reg they were not worried about the bike being full roadworthy.
October 7, 2010 at 3:14 am #188588The fastest vehicle I have ever been a passenger in on a forestry road was at Wedding bells SF (near STMs haunts I believe) a senior management forestor was driving a forestry vehicle at speeds up to the old tonne.
Was & still is from all reports a lunatic behind a wheel, wonder if he’d cop a ticket?
October 7, 2010 at 3:22 am #188589had a work mate get cleaned up by the ranger at yengo national park he ended up on the roof of his truck.
the ranger had to foot the bill as he was on the wrong side of the trail and speeding according to the police reporttramo
October 7, 2010 at 5:13 am #188590The fastest I have ever been through Bago State forest was in a Mitsubishi EVO being driven by the State rally champion of the time. We hit 185kmh at one stage and to make matters even scarier was, that it was in the dark!! I was there doing a story for the paper and they conned me into getting in with him for a “hot run” I was expecting a roo to jump out and kill me at any moment!! I was shit scared but was enjoying every minute of it.
I will add the road was a closed circuit at the time.
