Nice bike mate! I’m enjoying my Vstrom 650, very smooth and quiet, enough herbs to ring my bells and cheap to run. I have the stock screen at the lowest setting and find bugger-all buffeting on my helmet until I reach speeds that would not be considered illegal on public roads (tested on closed roads on private property of course, you understand!). I find tipping my helmet forward (it is a ONE Industries Kombat MX-style helmet) gives me the least buffeting. I have not had any other issues so far.

Mine is an 08 model and has barkbusters, bashplate, centre stand, heated grips, crash bars and top box. Running Tourance tyres at the moment, but will probably go to Anakee’s next (should be a while, the rear is almost new!).

I haven’t got comfortable enough with my bike yet to find the shortcomings of the suspension, so can’t comment on that.

Hope to see you on the road eh!

    Cheers!

After you try the Anakees I bet you go back to the Tourance .
I get 15-18,000km out of a rear Tourance and roughly double on the front, although I usually tend to change them before they reach that.

I suppose you have seen the Glitch-oz creations?

The v stroms are a great bike, had one for 70000 clicks with no problems. Most of my riding 2 up so put heavier rear sprind and thicker oil in front forks, This transformed the bike. Now have GS 1200, bit better 2 up but at a considerable price! Enjoy the strom, wonderful bike we probably all should be riding.

    Nick,

I still have not found a replacement for my 09 Wee that is more dirt worthy while still great on the highway [well not one that I can afford anyway  ].

So I’m looking at putting raising links on the rear to lift it 35mm-50mm.

Can you do something to the front forks that will lift them close to the same?

I’d like an extra 50mm under the centre of the bike as rough guide to what I’m hoping to achieve.

Mine is the ABS model, just in case that makes a difference to what else needs to be altered [like front brake lines, rear shock length might need to be addressed as well for the lift gain].

I’m sure others would be interested in just a little more trail ability from the Wee as well.
