Has anyone had a go on the new Yamaha 660 tenere? I checked one out last year at the bike show and now they are available. The bike is big it looks heavy but somehow it appeals to me.My mate reconds it would be no good in the tight crap. To me the bike looks ready to ride around OZ or cross the simpson desert. What do you guys think

Oh man, I just looked at the Tenere at the Yamaha-motor site.
It must be built like a tank, it is 50Kg heavier than a BMW G650X Challenge.
Although the BMW is not made anymore you can still get a good one covered by the original warranty.

Yeah but can you afford the BMW warranty if its a similar thing to the BMW 450 having to replace the crankshaft at 70hrs @ $3k to the customer plus more to keep it under that warranty

Hey WB one is a serious off road bike that’s what the BMW site says

And the Yamaha is a touring bike

Thats like comparing chalk and cheese Wikd I reckon, although 50kg is a lot

There is one of those Beemer 650’s for sale here in Wauchope. Tricked up and ready for touring.

I guess it really depends on ones intentions for the bike.
I know one thing, I wont be buying another BMW without first reading the service requirements in detail.

I guess that goes for everything that offers a warranty. We offer a pleasure boat engine package that has a warranty that covers it forever basically, but you spend ten of thousands “servicing it” to have that coverage

Actually the Yamaha site doesn’t say what warranty comes with the Tenere

I rode one on Saturday at Inskips open day. IMHO I thought it was a nice bike to ride. It might be a heavy bike but it didn’t feel like that when I rode it. If I had $15k spare I would probably buy one.

    Yeah Beemer,,,
A mate of mine recently picked up a 650 X Challenge with 2000k on it for $10 I think.
It looks to be pretty trick and had hardly seen any dirt at all !!!

He is going to join up soon too I think.
Comes from the Northern Beaches area, will keep ya updated when he signs up ;)
