Before our ride in Coffs tomorrow their were a few things needing doing to set up this bike.
I checked the static sag and rider sag and found they were a long way out , I had to wind on a lot of reload to the rear spring but once at the right measurements ( 30mm static ,100mm rider) I was still only just halfway on the adjustment.
I fitted an S12 rear and new ultra heavy duty tube , an M12 front and moose.
Set all the clickers in the middleMoved the forks 10mm through the clamps
I then rolled the bars forward and set up the controls so comfortable when standing up.
Cleaned and re-oiled the air filter ( motul air filter oil )
Changed the engine oil and filter and transmission oil ( motul 5100 )
Re- routed the carby hoses up into the air box
Ty wired the grips
I had a test ride and it was a noticeable improvement , the front was a bit harsh so after talking to TB I went 2 clicks soft on the compression.
Hurry up tomorrow !!!! :woohoo:

I just read the Transmoto CRF300x article the other day. :woohoo: Food for thought mate.
The Crf300x does look like the perfect trail bike Mal , maybe if the engine ever needs a freshen up while I’ve got it I’ll look into it then. But for now I have to say I’m really happy with the power

RobDecember 17, 2011 at 1:35 am #213243Careful, they’re evil things (sic). One of them broke two of my ribs and bruised my spleen.
They lull you into happiness and then strike without warning.
December 18, 2011 at 12:00 am #213326So the 1st ride on the CRF250x was just STM and I around the awesome trails of north Coffs. I wanted to ease into it and get used to the bike but that lasted for the transport section to get to the dirt and we were off. :woohoo:
I felt instantly comfortable on the bike and although the fire roads were a bit skatey this bike is clearly made with fast singles in mind. It corners so well even though undersprung for my weight , the power was not much different from my Drz in the mid range and was forgiving on hills but once in the high revs it really got going. Brakes had a great feel and work well although the rear brake pedal was high and gave me a couple of unexpected moment  But easily adjusted.
I was starting to pick up some pace when a surprise corner and loose log had me on the deck but both unscathed it was straight back on with STM laughing and apparently also filming :pinch:
It was a great way to be introduced to the new bike and thanks heaps to STM for leading another top loop I’m still grinning !!
Also I now know what needs to be altered to get the most out of this very competent bike.

December 18, 2011 at 8:56 am #213244Nick,
Looks like you had a good time :woohoo:
I bet lifting the rear of the bike over the log was easier than it would have been previously
when in the past instead of lifting the bike you sank another foot deeper into the mud
I remember that track Sunday morning, you wouldn’t even know we had been there
Enjoy personalizing your new stead
Adam.
