    Unfortunately I’m missing the Old Bull’s Birthday ride this year BUT for good reason.

    I heading off for a 13 day ride through Slovenia, Croatia, Italy on 20th May.

    They say there are more mountain twists and passes than you can count, including biker’s heaven in the Dolomites. In between, soak up some sun on the Adriatic coast.

    I’m hiring a BMW650GS (same as my road bike) … it’s all tar but I’m sure I’ll get ‘dirty’ somehow… well that’s the plan.

    Working for Qantas helps and hope I’ll be slumming it up in First Class to London then spending some time in Frankfurt on the Rhine River with a friends family doing last bit of training on my liver by visiting some wineries…before the ride.

    TB suggested a ride report…. can’t gtee how clean it’s going to be but see what happens.. Will post a map shortly of the proposed road trip..

    The Adriatic Coast would be a great place on a bike, only ever been a passenger in a car, thought I’d never make it home as there doesn”t seem to be much in the way of road rules

    We were in the mountains heading for the coast from Zagreb to Opatija & going around the outside of trucks on double lines, wasn’t only our driver it seemed to be common practice as the oncoming traffic was doing the same.

    Should be just before the main tourist season as well with no crowds

    Great trip Katgirl, I hope you have a ball . My father lives 10 minutes from the Austrian border and I know the beauty of the area you are covering. I’m very jealous!! Doesn’t matter one bit that your not on dirt I would love to do that ride.

    Any ride Kat is better than no ride mate and where you are going speaks for itself. Ride report mate dont forget and photos as you ride and drink you way around Slovenia and surrounds B)

    Oh and only action shots on the bike not off the bike as this is a family web site :P
