July 5, 2011 at 10:44 pm #204087I’ve never been to one of these before but they look good.
Am thinking I might try & get there this year, seeing as how it’s not too far from home. Anyone else going ?
July 6, 2011 at 7:08 pm #204088I was going to start a thread about this ride but its done already so I will add a bit.
North Star Trailride is on again this year. It will be held 30th-31 July and will be as good as ever with your favorites, The Snake Pit, Mt Mitchell and everyones favorite ‘The Enchanted Forest’ (theres nothing enchanting about if you ask me)
It will be the same track as last year but in reverse.
We will start marking the track this weekend and there is now a website.
http://northstartrailride.com/northstar_trailride/Welcome.html
There will be an Enduro X under lights on Saturday night.
Cost is $55 senior, $30 junior and $20 1 event licence if you dont have a competition or Rec. licence.
Theres also a rumor that the Lion’s Club will be doing dinner on Saturday night which should stop the rediculous wait for food.
See you all there!!

I will be there Roy should be fun. Its drags people from the whole district Roy so you will be amazed at how many mates you will run into! Family friendly too which is the best part! Kids can go crazy on their 50’s etc till they are blue in the face !!
July 17, 2011 at 2:08 pm #204089Went out marking some of the track yesterday. It’s pretty moist and should stay that way until the trailride in 2 weeks. Dust won’t be an issue and there is plenty of traction to get up the hills. The MX track on the 80km loop has been beefed up a bit with some bigger jumps and some more stutters added.
The 80km loop is the reverse of last year so both Mt Mitchell and the ‘Snake Pit’ will be a little easier.
July 17, 2011 at 2:40 pm #205016sweet as Gibbit me and the rest of the moree crew cant wait to get out there! Nixons track was sweet last year im sure that it will be even better this year, snake pit will be a breeze in reverse, brad will be stoked i think we spent about an hour there last year helping people up the hill
i also added the entry form to the website it can be found at http://www.northstartrailride.com/2011entryform.pdf
north star entryJuly 17, 2011 at 3:00 pm #204090Good stuff! If people can fill out the entry form before the ride it will make nominating that much quicker.
Had a bit of a play in the old quarry on the 30km loop yesterday and the traction was awsome. There could be a few of those near vertical climbs conquered on the day.
July 20, 2011 at 12:48 pm #205021I’m in and a there a few us coming up from Narrabri. Is there any creek crossings Gibbit. If so I’ll wait there until Aaron shows up. He loves taking early showers. Must be a very dirty man.

There are sections where the track follows creeks and just winds backwards and forwards over them.
The creeks are not running so there are plenty of places to cross if you don’t want to get your feet wet.
July 26, 2011 at 1:36 pm #204091I went out and rode more of the track last weekend. There were some really hard parts that most riders couldn’t get though so we made easy/hard ways in these spots. There should be something for everyone.
I will go back out again friday for one more final loop and I will be a sweeper over the weekend. There is a ‘stop and play’ spot on both the 80km and 30km loops. One is an MX track and the other is an old quarry with some near vertical walls.
Should be alot of fun.
You will be able to sign up on both friday night or saturday morning.
If you see a white 2011 YZ450F with #604 on it come and say G’Day.
__________________July 26, 2011 at 7:11 pm #205546See you there Gibbit. I’ll be there about 8.30 Saturday. I’m on the orange ktm. No, it’s a 300 with Bike Territory stickers all over and a whipps “bullbar” pipe cover. Hope to catch up.
Whats the enduroX track like. I hope the lights are good because if I have to rely on the KTM light I am screwed.
July 26, 2011 at 8:39 pm #205562hey guys just got back to moree after helping layout some gear for the Enduro X course it will be a heap of fun (not to tough Roy) and no rocks just tyres logs sand and railway sleepers
July 26, 2011 at 11:44 pm #204092Yeah the Nixons said it was a little tame. But I’m sure it will still create a few spills. Hopfully the flood lights hold up as they have had trouble in the past.
I’ll be there around 7am saturday as I’m going out first to open the gates.
