August 9, 2011 at 11:21 pm #205535A really good mate mine and new Old Bull ,Marlow, is coming on this ride with us so some serious shed time was needed as he doesn’t have an adventure bike and I offered up my DRZ which is in trail riding spec.
The S12 and M12 were changed to ED78 and AC10 and the rear sprocket was dropped to a 44. We removed the polysport headlight and fitted the standard light and screen. The 28 litre tank was fitted , air hawk and rear rack. We also fitted the Giant loop bag I bought at the birthday ride auction and sussed out how the luggage would work.
Beers were drank and we had a laugh doing it!!!
2 1/2 hours later and he’s ready for the ride !!August 10, 2011 at 12:07 am #206735Count me in Nick
The bike is back together and had a short test ride so chomping at the bit bit to do some adventuring.
Tryhard is still begging to the powers that be for a leave pass.
I can’t wait to ride. I passed a guy on a adv bike going to work the other day and I had to ride.
Looking forward to it.
August 10, 2011 at 12:09 am #203359Looking good Nick,

Good stuff Lotsa , how’s the bike going ?? And what was done ??
Tell Tryhard to ignore the powers that be and I have a nice hot lamb curry waiting for him on Tuesday night !! That should do it !!!
August 11, 2011 at 1:29 am #206756Looks like Tryhard is out but I’m coming just for the lamb curry.
Another ussual who would like to come along is starting to develop a nasty illness that may be too serious for him to go to work but well enough to ride.
The small bearing on the output shaft (the opposite end of the sprocket) failed and peices fell into some of the gears causing damage. The load on the shaft was taken by one of the shift forks to the extent that the shift fork had discoloured from heat at the contact point. The damaged gears were replaced with two complete gear clusters and shift fork set sourced second hand. New piston rings went in while it was apart.
Tested ok riding for a couple of hours the other night and will go through Ourimbah SF to get a latte:) and back on Saturday morning to give it another couple of hours test.
All good so far and just need to pack my gear and I’m off.

I’m glad you can make it mate , shame about Tryhard. I’m going to have to cap it with who’s going now mate. It’s just getting too close to leaving and I’m trying to work out numbers for a pub stay that may already be hard with us 5
Plus the rides been up for a while and I think we need to call it now !Cheers
Nick
