A mate rang me today in a quandry he was trying to get a hold of a Pirelli MT43 trails tyre for his bike, everywhere he went or rang all he got was “nah sorry mate all gone, none in country have to wait for next shipment”. So I said I’ll try my local bloke, always looking for an excuse to leave the office at lunch and go down to the local bike shop off I trotted, got there told Bob (the owner) what we needed he rang up the importer, got off the phone and stated “Be one here for your mate next wednesday!!!!!, I’ll do him a good price too”, as i looked around the tiny little shop i see V3 fox helmets in M XL & XXL for $299, thor googles for $70, Renthal pillowtop grips for $20 etc etc, it dawned on me that because this bloke is one of the best connected people in the Aussie bike business he knows where to source almost anything he wants, and we the customers take this for granted, until we go to other local shops and get “nah sorry” or “that’ll be your firstborn thanks”.
Made me think about life in general, I know literally thousands of people through my old jobs and it has opened many doors of opportunity for me, and wonder how many others have examples of this (good ones not a bitch session)?

Bruce. That is the beauty of living in a small town. You get to know who’s who and who’ll do what for you. This morning I needed a piece of aluminium to make a bracket for the XR’s radiator guards,I dropped into the local fabricators, had the piece of Aluminium in no time and it was free.
It is always easy to find a tradie of any sort that will do a cashie for you as well.

There is no way you will get me to move from here, as I have this town to well wired!

hahahahahahahahh talk about small towns!!! TB just pulled a wheelie past my office on my new XR and within a minute my phone was ringing.
The person on the phone knew I was at work and said that they had just seen my bike cutting around town and he knew it wasn’t me on it, as there was in his words “Some fat bastard on it”
Can’t do nothing around here with out someone seeing it.

Yep, everyone else knows what you’re doing before you’ve made your mind up.

And if someone needs a helping hand it’s there before you know it.

and if someones riding your bike around (or worse) You WILL find out.
