If you are going riding with a certain Gas Gas rider, you will want to watch yourself as he has been having MX lessons on the quiet.
I heard a rumour that Ollie was going to attend a KTMRAT MX school and being the curious type I am, I thought I would investigate.
So I loaded the XR and Connors KX onto the trailer and headed off. We unloaded the bikes at the Cowarra quarry just out of the thriving metropolis of Wauchope.
From there it is about 10km of single trail to the MX track, I rode out there because, I figured it would be easier to sneak up on Ollie if I blended in.
My sources where in fact correct as there it was ,the Gas Gas 300 larger than life, cutting laps on our local track, all under the critical eye off the “red headed rat rooter.”
AS most of you know I work in the newspaper industry so I just happened to have my camera with me to capture events as they unfolded.
Here is the first snap I got before he realised I was there, this shot clearly shows that Ollie has had the suspension lowered on the Gasser, so he can reach the ground now.

Yes Dave I know the kid on the 65 beat me around the track, but he is using race fuel.

All of a sudden, once Ollie realized the paparazzi was there, he then risked life and limb and started to play up to the camera.

Sorry Ollie, you know us newspaper people,we never let the truth get in the way of a good story!!!!

Hope you had a good day at our track under Dave’s guidance, my kids always come away from the schools a more confident rider with another new skill learnt.

yeh had a great time out with dave and the Kids. anytime on the bike is a great time! I am now a member of the Hastings motorcycle club and the track is very good, even for us non motorcross type people. Dave showed an old dog a few new tricks and I was attacking the table tops and corners wiith a lot more gusto. I was thinking Dave should do a thread on his coachingB) maybe on a weekly basis . Thanks Mick for breaking out the camera Nottt!! I dont think I stuffed up my jumps as often until the camera came out bastard:laugh:

I reckon something like that could be Interesting. I get some what anxious ( weak knees?) at the thought of hitting Triples or Whoops..Must be I’m Subconciously afraid of eating even more dirt than usual?? I’ve done some seriuosly STUPID crap on push bikes but just find it hard to push into MX territory. Maybe learning from someone at a track may overcome that..Good thread this, i agree with Ollie. maybe KTMRAT should lay out a “How to “,”Tips” Column?? :) :)

Thanks Ollie you are a man of your word, but dont think I am giving you any more than that, I mean we agreed that you would say it was alright , but after this there is now way I am paying you any more money. Also that 11 year old girl that was faster than you, well she wants the bet paid off, she said she could beat you and she did.:woohoo:

Thanks for a great day Mate, and I really enjoyed having you in one of my MX Schools, you have to come back for more if you can. I had just as much fun as everyone else, I will speak more to you on Sat morning.
    Cheers
    Dave

PS Husky610 that thought has crossed my mind as well, we will see, thanks for the interest.
