September 18, 2009 at 11:52 am #153501Now that is a mast eagle.
Would love to be up there while out in the middle of the ocean.
Huge fan of big multi hulls, use to sail a mates parents 51 foot cat on Lake Maquaire back in the day.
You have a good job there mate.
September 18, 2009 at 11:58 am #153456Cheers Mal,
That job is about to end anytime in the next 4 – 6 weeks but :blink:September 18, 2009 at 12:04 pm #153502Do you get to take it for a test run?
September 18, 2009 at 12:08 pm #153457Trials start real soon, we are hoisting the Mainsail tomorrow morning. Been waiting for the wind to co operate (very light or NO BREEEZE required) tomorrow is good so far,,,,

I would be surprised if the owner did not fly you home but you may not need the trip home straight away.
As they say “you never know whats over the horizon”.
Just be prepared, dress well, be open minded and professional.September 18, 2009 at 8:34 pm #153506I have spent literally 1000’s of hours at sea and until recently had never set foot on a sail boat.Whilst in Cairns,I spent the day on this boat. I dont think it is quite as big as the Necker Belle but it was a fairly big sail boat none the less.
September 18, 2009 at 8:46 pm #153509As you would know Mick the multihull is a very stable boat.
That one looks like a nice bit of kit too.
Mono hull (or tippys as some call them) are fun too but not as good for entertaining the VIP’s.
It is great fun doing social racing but one needs to sail ‘defensively’ because all the wannabee’s do it too and some forget their manners, others have no idea about the rules and some have no regard for manners or rules (a bit like this place).
Thats why it is fun watching the ‘big boys’ bashing into each other while you sail past for a win
September 18, 2009 at 9:01 pm #153512In 2005 my brother and I delivered a brand new $US1.8M 50′ Hatteras Sports Fisher from the factory in North Carolina all the way down the US east cost to the Miami boat show, that was the boat trip of a life time. :woohoo: It had 2 1000hp CAT’s running her and she was using 200liters of diesel an hour. We had the hammer down and it cruised comfortably at 32knots.

September 18, 2009 at 9:27 pm #153514Hey Mick, did the Hatteras have a networked computer system which could tell you where to pull in for fuel or did it have to be calculated manually?
