AnonymousHave a look at this Ossa trials bike. I remember my old man having one of these.
It weighs 67Kg, is a fuel injected 2 stroke with some clever exhaust trickery and has a tiny 280cc engine with the head angled back ala the new YZ450.
November 17, 2009 at 4:58 am #161346I saw that last night Moto, and i agree it is a fair step forward, and to trial it in a trials configuration is good thinking, sort the powerplant out first and then the dynamics of another Chassis type afterwards.

I enjoyed it and it helped justify my long term honda hating.
Along with being very interesting.November 17, 2009 at 6:33 am #161395Diddel wrote:

Along with being very interesting. This article has been shown on here before. You all can use it to justify your Honda bashing (no im not a Honda owner) but Honda have the right to make and market whatever they want. If they choose not to make two stroke then so be it. It just leaves a bigger market for those that do.
In reality Honda have given much more to the motor cycle world then most.

November 17, 2009 at 10:18 pm #161451The amount of different companies that are investing in 2T R&D atm is phenominal, surely something has to get past the beancounters and be on the showroom floor before I’m too old to ride one….
I like 4Ts too, real ones like XR500-650s, DR Bigs, CT90s Z50s, and most big roadbikes of all configurations, however i do wonder about the viability of “screamers” in the long term.
Bad for the environment
Bad for the wallet
good for the profit marginBC
November 17, 2009 at 11:25 pm #161348That Ossa appears to be FI not DI.
Wondering why there hasn’t been more attempts at just FI in the meantime whilst DI is tuned for the masses. Maybe FI has issues that will spoil the party for DI? Maybe they just want to leapfrog to DI without too much R&D. Who knows.
Same here Bruce, would rather something good be available sooner than later.Honda saw an opportunity to make money and raise it’s profile and took it. Good luck to them. I would buy a Honda if they had a broader range of dirt bikes. Sadly it seems they have to stick to their guns and keep 4 stroking into the future. Similarly, Subaru is rejecting joint venture car platforms due to being stuck in the AWD mindset. Stability control on many cars nowdays makes the AWD system less “relevant”. Maybe we will see 2 stroke technology making 4 strokes a little less relevant too.

AnonymousYeah, it is only fuel injection but it’s a still a positive in my eyes. I’d rather have FI than nothing buy another bike with a carbie. I didn’t want a carbie’d bike this time around but the 2 stroke KTM’s took me by surprise and I relented.
I agree with the AWD comment regarding Subaru but would say for the few times they are taken off road the difference to a 2 wheel drive car is very noticeable.
