NSW is getting gouged from the insurance companies again  Fair dinkum it erks me to the core.

This was taken from our friends at Hunter Dirtriders and originally posted up on DBW

I think all dirtbike riders no matter what forum they frequent should be made aware of the blatant rip off that these pricks are taking us for

I reckon QLD has the right idea with their rider only insurance.

anyway thats my rant we need to let our Pollies know that we are not happy Jan.

Increases on July the 1st which places the 250’s is the same class as 450’s for CTP insurance

old class were 100-300cc and over 300cc
    new classes are
    100-225cc
    226-725cc
    726-1025cc
    over 1025cc

increase of over $200p/a for 250cc bikes for their CTP, all I can say is MOTHER F#%&RS!!!!!

The first no. is for 6 months some of the greenslips are nearly as expensive as a complete now rego in ollie’s post below. Who is the third party? The passenger or the other road uses that get injured by out of control bikes? I could understand if it was because of pillion as they could easily get hurt but other people? How often would that happen? Why no single seat rego if that is the case? Oh i get it they are doing it to make money! We are a minority. So how many people are going to whinge.

Not sure about the new system but to be honest I found the old system a bit silly. A 300cc 2 smoke make a shit load more power than my drz400 but they pay less. How does that make sense?

I agree Scotty the old system was/is “Bull Shit” the new system is the same as the old only with another capacity tier. This is why we need to have a system designed for dirt bike riders who spent a very small amount of time riding their bikes on roads where they can potentially injure other users. The system is definatley not fair how can they justify charging $508 for a vehicle that may do say 3000 kms a year compared to the average daily commuter hack that does close to 30000 kms a year with the potential to seriously injure anyone in an accident. Its all about the $

    aaaarrrrggghhh!!!

Is the pillion considered “other road users”?

As well as registering a dirtbike I should take up smoking, drink a little more and buy a jetski so i can help this country out of the GFC

In Vic do you need ctp if you are only riding with Recreational rego?
Can you insure a dirt bike on limited kms like a classic?

I have a 400 my greenslip will go down by $160 on last years price (using greenslip calculator). However my son’s 250 will go up by $159. Swings and roundabouts really. Overall it sucks as it will cost me $23 more to greenslip my car than my bike, a car is capable of carrying more passengers and doing more damage to third persons.

    Adam.
