July 28, 2010 at 7:25 am #184830why don t they have one price for learner legal bikes and one for the rest with a single seet option for both classes . makes sense to me spose they would make less money so no good for the insurence companys
July 28, 2010 at 8:34 am #184833just used the online CTP calculator and my Bro’s 248cc smoker will be the same price as my 625cc bike. $277. from memory that’s about a $100 hike on the 250 and about a $100 drop from mine. looks like 226-725cc are all same price for the cc category for our area and riders over 30.
as all the other larger capacity riders are saying great for us, but a $100 hike all in one go is a bit hard to swallow.
as in another thread the RTA had no knowledge of the price rise, so it seems it’s the insurance companies that have re-evaluated/ changed the prices.
July 28, 2010 at 10:09 am #184841do you blokes want some cheese with your whine????
what sux is….
down here its about $550-ish for full rego, road or dirt…. no difference. size, no difference.
that covers you for TAC (traffic accident compensation) insurance (which for me has been a lifesaver in the past)BUT not any vehicle insurance, not even third party.
third party-fire and theft is about $600-$800 per year for a rating 1 driver/rider….let alone fully comp insurance…..its more than a Gorilla!!!
its about $50 for rec rego…..and its fantastic for dirt riders
but, i cant ride north of the border with rec rego as your northern bloody RTA neanderthals cant get with the system
rec rego isnt recognised outside of victoria.
and that sux coz i like riding up there

No harder than the extra $100, us big bore riders have had to wear, for God knows how many years.

July 29, 2010 at 10:47 am #184784Well I can’t complain as my green slip went from $390 down to $239
July 29, 2010 at 11:35 pm #184928Who was that with?
I can’t get better than $354.00July 30, 2010 at 12:15 am #184936Alliance seems to be the cheapest. The reason yours is a bit dearer Rebore450 is because you are in Sydney. Country CTP’s are cheaper. If you put in a country post code, it calculates a cheaper price.
July 30, 2010 at 12:49 am #184938It has been discovered by the motorcycle council, that the information presented to the MAA by the insurance lobby consortium to justify and approve this new group sysyems was in fact the wrong data.
it would appear that the data was “wrongly” collated and seemed to infer that 250-300cc riders were responsible for more claims against them than any other group. Now remember 3rd party is about the third party not about the rider, how many 250cc pilots carry pillions, or caus emajor damage to third party persons?
This is the bit that is wrong, yes some of us have had a price decrease, however you blokes are doing exactly as twas hoped for, divide and conquer. Now how long before the say 350cc and above get a new classification and the rest of us say, “doesn’t affect me so I’m not concerned”.
Yesterday through the submissions page for upper house committees I put a formal submission in as suggested by the NSW Motorcycle council. I for one am aghast that mine has been raised by 107%, and it gets better, on another forum a 450 rider said he got his renewal 2 months early from the insurer, his rego was due mid-august, they sent him the renewal slip late june with the old high price on it, first time they’ve ever sent him one that early…. gee wonder what they are up to?
It’s wrong, it’s farcial, and it’s a blatant money grab by the MAA & their mates the CTP insurers.

Cynical yes but factual.. I keep telling everyone they, Big Business and their crony politicians will always do what they want and what benefits them.. They will never as history has shown over and over do anything that benefits you and I..
July 30, 2010 at 2:09 am #184942ATM MCCofNSW is actually making some headway, if we give them some support as part of this headway is Rec Rego, something we should have had access to decades ago.
the link is here
this to lodge a complaint with the Motor acciddents authority
http://www.maa.nsw.gov.au/default.aspx?MenuID=417Stand up my brothers & sisters, don’t get screwed without a fight, for once lets be the screwers.
there is also a big rally planned for late august to protest this rubbish being fed to us

July 30, 2010 at 2:43 am #184944Rec Rego will see the faster demise of our sport. It will allow people that cant be arsed jumping through the hoops to meet rego and license requirements get bikes rec rego’ed rather then buy more crack. It easier to rec rego a bike in Vic then rego right. They will then ride anywhere believing in their crack induced state they are able to because of their rec rego. The remaining few ride areas we have will quickly be lost as these people ride around running into another getting hurt and putting more strain on insurances, the legal system and the medical services. Can you imagine the extra bikes out in our remaining legal riding areas. Rec rego will fill our state forests and ride areas with the bikes and they wont be the people that care about our sport, mark my words. There is NO way I would support a rec rego.
Be careful what you wish for Brucee espically where you ride and live.
