Quote:Hi All
I need some feedback here guy/gals about this ride.(now before anyone takes offence, I am just after feedback/answers)I’m having a hard time with this situation
We have posted up a ride for the high country looking for expressions of interest, we get alot of positive feedback with 35-40 replies (count me in/extremely keen)
So we organise it, and now we only have 13 replies total(both for and against)so I am trying to find out why.
Is it the distance that you have to travel for the ride ???
Is it the cost of the ride ???
Is it the weekend availability ???
Is it because it’s a tour company (or specific tour company)???
We want some discussion on this, because if we don’t know the reasons behind, than we can’t address in the future.
A lot of time and effort goes into organising these things, and on this one we have tentative bookings for accom, meals etc, because we thought we would easily get the numbers based on the responses received, now it looks like it’s not going to happen and I hate leading people along and then cancelling out.
So please tell me your thoughts(good bad whatever) again it’s not having a go at anybody, we just don’t want to make the same mistakes when organising again in the future.
Don’t be shy, be truthful cheers hatto
Your a tosser Hatto Plain and simple
That wasn’t very nice was it especially seems your so generous with your tools and spares bag
No its simply timing I can’t commit to anything after the first week of Nov too much work on.
Would love to go
Anyway you could do without me anyway I’d only stir too much shit, and you would probably only have too fix my bike , I don’t have a good track record of riding with you maybe 3rd time lucky
cheers
BobJuly 14, 2010 at 7:57 am #183702Im a + for this ride because.
Once I saw Heffo was going to lead thought it would be a great opportunity to experience this area with an experienced operator with a group of old bulls.( I probably would not have done a ride down there otherwise) The $$$$ I thought pretty good for a two day ride spent more on my entry for Finke.
I am really looking forward to this weekend so hope that it goes ahead.

Is it the distance that you have to travel for the ride ??? No
Is it the cost of the ride ??? No but the total cost from home back to back is a consideration.
Is it the weekend availability ??? Yes. Bad time of the year for me. But then any time is a bad time of the year. I express an interest when a general post is put up for a ride, but then make the decision when more detalis are posted. I ride with another group of guys and have a few other interests that keep me busy on the limited weekends that I have.Is it because it’s a tour company (or specific tour company)??? No. Have wanted to go on an organised tour for a while. It is on the ‘to do’ list.

Work patterns and leave rosters limit availability as well.
Good luck with it Hatto. I don’t have many answers for you. I hope you get enough riders.
I do notice a lot of the time that members on the list are online and watching this thread. It takes a couple of mintues to let Hatto know what you want to do.

Is it the distance that you have to travel for the ride ??? No we drove to Alice Springs for 7 hours of riding & Mildura for what was meant to be 4hours so the Snowies is no problem
Is it the cost of the ride ???As badbowie said the entry for Finke is more than this ride alone without factoring in the damge to my bike & riding gear from both
Is it the weekend availability ???Would have been, I’m lucky enough to be on holidays & will arange the rest of my holidays around this ride if it goes ahead
Is it because it’s a tour company (or specific tour company)???Tour company is a definite plus, means we will ride the best there is & hopefully not ride in circles finding our way at a reasonable pace
Don’t think there are any negatives surrounding this ride, it’s an opportunity for people that can’t get a group together on their own to do some awesome riding.
Is there any chance Heffo has a small group that may be happy to fill the balance of numbers
We need six more to put their hand up or it may not happen again, remember for a lot of the year this stuff is not accessable

July 14, 2010 at 11:38 pm #183704Hello Truthful answer from Scott is the money, I got another expensive ride coming up to Cams corner which makes my decision easy…. and $500 skin plus getting there and other costs is probably cheap but and good value but not to me.Sorry for my honesty, $500 for one nights accommodation is dear, and I would rather follow one of my mates for free, even if we get lost, and stay in a cabin [frozen stiff
].
