AnonymousOnly a quick report from me tonight but in summary WHAT A TOP WEEKEND:)
I will do a report this week and hopefully get some video and pics down loaded.
Boony and Bollocks you both are to be commended on the amount of effort and organising that you both but into this weekend. All weekend we were treated to some of the best trails and hospitality that could be offered.
Thankyou to all of the Old Bulls that were there and everyone else get ready to do some reading over the next week as there will be some excellent reports of OBT Nundle 2009:)
July 26, 2009 at 12:18 pm #145185:woohoo: Where do I start???
Probably the best OBT Trip I have attended I reckon (sorry TB), but Boony & Bollocks have certainly raised the bar on ride quality & quantity !!!We were treated to a top two days of riding some of the most spectacular landscape I have ever seen, apart from the glimpse I got at Easter when I first had the thought of getting the OBT Crew up there to sample the trails,,,
The weather Gods were shining on us I can tell you, as we had a cloud free, sapphire blue sky and temp at a beautiful 18-20 degrees, perfect for roosting the single trails!!!Sat morning we had a Bacon & Eggs starter before a little briefing of what to expect for the day, then it was open slather from the moment we departed the Caravan Park (after we de- iced the trust steeds)
As soon as we hit the dirt the hoots and hollers could be heard from all directions, as the boyz & Kylie cut sick on the awesome lush tracks,,,There was a bit of everything, long undulating Fire Trail, twisty off cambered corners, sweet Single Trail through the Dark Forest(watch out for the Bears in There), fast flowing rocky bottomed creek crossings, long rutted deep wet puddles, small logs littering the trail in various locations and at difficult angles to negotiate and some rather large fallen trees with small strategically cut ramp overs to climb up over!!! Everything a good Trail Ride craves!!!
Some of the sections were slimed up with the famous Red Nundle Clay, which made for some sweaty hands & quick thinking when coming up on a corner at speed, then spotting the clay (or not spotting it quick enough on some occasions)
There was also the odd sharp rock littered sections and some loose boulders here & there, How good were they to get around or over as well as trying to maintain your line ???
Did I mention the climbs?? There were plenty of those, some hard & fast, some slow & snotty, some rocky and loose and some just an absolute damn handful to keep momentum and line together as one !!!Then there was the infamous and appropriately named PARACHUTE HILL,,, a difficult descent that fell down into a lush valley, it seemed to go on forever with off camber hairpins, big boulders rolling around and some drops off the edge that would scare the pants off of any mere mortal!
Lunch at the Berry Patch was top class to say the least, where else can you ride all morning ,then rock up for a hearty BBQ lunch & Berry Ice cream & Tea or Coffee??? All with a big smile too,,,
Sat night was a hearty meal at the Peel Inn and a few ice cold ales,,, followed by a laugh a minute night of stories from the SuperUnit roung the campfire!!!
Sunday morning was Bollock`s turn to show us round, and he did that well! He led us to a working Gold Mine in the forest somewhere, Hanging Rock Lookout, and on to Sheba Dam for a slap bang True Blue Aussie morning Tea (Tea/coffee with Lamingtons & Anzac Bikkies) Thanx again Boll!!!
Then it was off to the private property of a local lady he knows, it was an blast riding down through there dodging the Cow Pats & Wombat holes. How good was the little easy looking climb out of the creekbed that caught out no less than four bikes at the same time all within 10 metres of each other,,, Then Kylie D rides straight up at the tail of the pack & shows all of us up!!!
After some searching for the way out after some massive trees blocked our way, we finally got to the Trout Farm for the Guided Tour. It was vert interesting indeed, so many Trout bred in the tanks & ponds on that property. Awsome spot in the middle of nowhere, 500 acres of untouched mountain catchment.
It was then a blast back down the road to the park to pack up & depart, What a shame that was!!!
That was about it in a nutshell, So many good moments, and there will be more and more stories to be told this coming week.
Awsome ride, fantastic crew to ride with, terrific scenery with perfect weather to match.
Cheers Boony, Bollocks & the Tamwoth Crew, you did OBT proud & made ue welcome in your territory. I`m sure you are all welcome down our way anytime to hopefully repay the favours,,,
Cheers All, I`m off to bed now.
July 26, 2009 at 12:33 pm #145301Not as good as eh?

Beagle your not welcome anymore lol
July 26, 2009 at 12:42 pm #145298What a great weekend, Boony you outdid yourself, I hope all the stress was worth it, you certainly pulled it off, Bollocks same to you for the great ride and touristy trip on sunday and Morning Tea (don’t burn the scones next time!!)..
Day 1
A long trip started friday afternoon about 1.30 leaving home at blaxland and heading up to newcastle to pick up Eagle. Arrived at eagles at about 4.00pm (lots of traffic) we quickly switched drivers and eagle took control of the vehicle to Nundle.. Eagle thought he should ring Boony on the way but I had another plan. A phone call from me being Charles from the RFS telling boony that we’d seen his ride on a website and that he would have to cancel as all the forests were closed for backburning. Cheeky bugger even offered to help if we could give him some drip torches.. I think we had him going for a good while and we were satisfied when he agreed to send everyone home. I thought eagle was going to wet himself next to me, I finally let Boony in on the joke and there were many expletives. Boony then proceeded to call every half hour or so to check where we were, It was decided they would wait for us until they went to the pub for dinner, a slight detour due to GPS sending us the wrong way put us back a bit but I think we got there about 7.50 and headed straight for the pub. Introductions were done etc etc.. MickG, Unit and Vman showed up a bit later. The boonstar was well and truly hammered when we got there but kept going to not let anyone down. Most of the talk of the evening revolved around Menace. Boony is in love with menace although he has never met him.. Yes he even admitted it. Lots of beer flowed on the friday night with just about all the gang there. A great feed at the pub, we retired to the firepit where moose and I plucked a few tunes on Mooses guitar. Several more drinks and a rumski saw me heading off to bed.Awoke saturday morning to eagle telling me the bacon and eggs were ready how good was this, a bacon and egg roll for breaky and then off to gear up for the day ahead.. Novice had a bit of an issue getting his bike starting but in came the D’s with their words of wisdom and Dan furiously kicking the snot out of the WR fag in mouth and all, Novice finally got it started and all was good. In the mean time I had poor old Steve fitting a new back tyre on the WR, and boy am I glad I did. Steve is at Tamworth Cycle Tune 02-6762 5578 so all you locals go and see Steve for parts and accessories and servicing, mecahnical repairs etc.
We headed up some crappy tar stuff about 8-9 k’s before we headed into the bush some nice flowing twin trail and firetrail warmed us up before heading into some slippery muddy wet singles in the pine forests. This where our leader for the Day Boony had a nice little off all caught on no less that 2 helmet cams, poor bugger (NOT). The day was full of great tracks it had everything, singles, twin, firetrail, snotty hills. Parachute hill was fun the biggest longest downhill I’ve ever seen, A couple of people decided it was way too hot and thought theyd have a swim, the puddles and creek crossings were entertaining, we had bollocks going for a swim early on and then KylieD decided it was her turn. Good old super sherpa was there in a flash to pick princess up.. I didn’t mean to laugh but it was pretty funny..
We kept going on some real slippery clay trails I was having way too much fun side to side and all over the place, I think it was billy who had a pretty decent off on one of these sections.. Always bringing up the rear was Demis our sweep for the weekend who did a great job but I don’t think we kept him busy enough, no flats, no breakdowns.. Thanks Demis, Boulder would be proud of ya.
Some more nice flowing fast twin trail heading into lunch, the boys were getting a bit fiesty at this stage and the play started how much fun was that, I did my best to stay away from Dan cause I got sick of copping roost from the big 450. There was some great high speed riding and play going on, I only wish MickG would learn to ride a bit quicker and make it a bit more challenging insert cheeky laugh here. Unit kept whingeing about the big DR on the slippery stuff and how it was too heavy blah blah.. Yeah sure.
We arrived at the berry patch spot on 1.00pm and could smell the barbie cooking straight away, what a feed, gourmet sausages, chicken bits, salad drinks and an amazing berry and icecream desert, had trouble getting my gear back on after that feed. After a bit of a rest and a feed we found some jerry cans with some fuel in them so we fueled up, geared up and headed off. We stopped for a bit of a breather after some more great tracks and were amazed that there was still ice in the puddles, you could here it crackling when you rode up, unit being unit decided to have a lick on the ice..
Boony warned us about a big hill coming up couldn’t wait for it we stopped at the bottom for a bit of a break and chatted etc.. Off we went up the hill got to what I thought was the top and said to DanD is that it.. I think so he said.. Well up a bit further it started again and just kept going and going and going great hill that but I would have liked to have ridden up parachute hill. All made it to the top and we headed off for more great tracks. We decided to head back to the caravan park don’t know what time it was, i was completely knackered though, more of that crappy black top stuff (what’s with that Boony). Then back to the park for showers and beers. We headed to the pub for more beers and a feed. The pub put a couple of nice Reserved for OBT signs on 2 of the big tables. We had another great feed and lots of banter. We had a visit from Boonys mrs and the kids. Eagle and I picked up a couple of takeaway rumskis but I was that buggered I headed straight to bed without drinking it…
Highlights that I remember from Day 1
KylieD’s Swim in the creek crossing
Bollocks swim and completely submerging the DRZ, wait till you see the footage.
Parachute Hill what a great hill
The slippery sloppy singles through the pine forests.
Ice in the Puddles
Lunch – That was the best.
The big uphill that just kept going and going and going.
Boony whingeing about his swollen epiglotis, lucky Menace wasn’t there or something else may have been swollen.July 26, 2009 at 12:44 pm #145303Trailboss wrote:

July 26, 2009 at 1:12 pm #145304Day 2.
I awoke to eagle telling me I was the last one up, however unit, mickg and vman were still asleep or partaking in other activities God knows what went on in that cabin.. No breakfast Sunday morning I was still full from the feed the night before. A nice cup of coffee got the day going, Unit came and helped himself to Novices Supplies (your welcome unit).. BTW thanks novice for the supplies you can come back anytime!!!..
Day 2 saw Bollocks take the lead for the day and showing us around some local sites.. We started out some nice twin trail down to a gold mine. The play was back on straight away and Dan was still roosting everyone, I heard he even roosted KylieD and she was not very impressed. From the Gold mine we headed up to Sheba dam for morning tea, I think we also visited hanging rock lookout before this but my memory can’t place the exact order we did it… MickG rode out on the pontoon at the dam to take a photo of the WR, god it would have been funny if he fell in but it wasn’t to be.
Bollocks pulled out several thermus’s of boiling water, tea coffee, a lamington and couple of anzac biccies for us all, I’m still trying to work where he carried it all.. I think someone secretly dropped it off at the Dam.. Good work Bollocks. We then headed to a property of a lady that Bollocks knows, what a great property. Riding through the paddocks whilst keeping an eye out for the big wombat holes. A couple of us headed off the beaten track for a bit of a go at some nice off-camber slippery loamy hills that was fun… We headed back down and contined along some what looked like rarely used trails.. We came to a point where we couldn’t get through at this stage I caught a glimpse of bollocks on the ground and the DRZ lying next to him.. A bit of a turnaround and some exploration saw us find another way around that included a knarly little creek crossing, Moose, Myself, Boony and Vman made it accross and we proceeded to wait at the top of a mother of a hill lots of hidden boulders in the grass it was pretty hard work dodging all the hidden obstacles, once near the top it turned to a nice grassy field and the front wheel hardly touched the ground, so much fun I had to do it twice.. We waited there for a fair while with no sign of the rest of the group it was decided to head to the trout farm to wait for them.. Of-course we had to wait for Vman to take even more pics of the Husky, I think it’s going in next months Miss Husky magazine.. We made the trout farm and had a great tour with Russell who told us all we need to know about trout farming, it was very educational and a bit different..
Sometime before this I heard Boony and KylieD had a bit of an altercation where kylie lied the bike down to give boony a bit of traction or somethin..
After the trout farm we headed back to the park for a bit of a chat, pack the bikes and gear up and head off home.. Looking forward to a long drive NOT.. Eagle and I stopped for some nourishment and KFC in Musswellbrook (I Think) before heading back to eagles. I met the lovely Mrs Eagle and the little Eagles, thanks for the coffee!!.. Headed back from Newcastle a little bit of traffic but not to bad..
Highlights of Day2 that I remember
Morning Tea provided by Bollocks
The trout farm tour
the hill on Jenny’s Property
Jenny’s Property (what I would give for a property like that)
DanD still roosting everyone
The riding and competiveness of some of the boys.
Unit looking for Gold and the Gold Mine
V-Man, putting his bike in certain poses and positions to get photos of it, It was like a model shoot or somethin’ Bloody hell how many photos do you need boy..
The drive home chatting with Eagle.O.K Special Thanks need to go to:
Everyone for coming it wouldn’t have been so much fun without the people
The Pub for the great food and the Stubby Holders.
Boony what more do I need to say well DONE!!

July 27, 2009 at 2:57 am #145366
AnonymousSorry in advance for the long post but there’s just so much to tell.
Everyone who didn’t to Nundle has probably already got the idea that it was a great weekend. So I don’t really need to say it again.
Yes I do. It really was an excellent weekend.
Thanks so much to Boony and Bollocks for the effort that they put into this ride.
We left home on Friday at about 10am and although we had a bit of shopping to do first we still expected to be on our way by 11am. This would have probably been the case if we hadn’t got part of the way there and DanD says ‘Ooh, I forgot my jumper!’ Who goes to Nundle in the middle of winter without a jumper? So we had to turn around and get the poor dear one.
Anyway we had a really good run through until we got just past the turn off to Nundle. Then Tom (GPS) decides to take us ‘the quickest way to Nundle’ and we end up on this crappy unsealed road which probably added about 10 mins to the trip anyway. But we did get to see a heap of kangaroos. We thought that one of them might have been Boony but we found out later that it wasn’t.
We finally arrived and met Boony and Bill (what an experience!).
On Saturday morning we woke up to find that the frost was severe indeed and everything was white. It was absolutely gorgeous.
We checked our car’s outside temperature and found that it was minus 2.
After bacon and eggs for breakfast we started our bikes (some were harder to start than others) and headed off.
I expected it to be really cold but the weather was glorious and when DanD uploads his video you can see just how great the weather was. You didn’t even need to wear jackets on the Saturday it was that nice.
The riding was excellent and Eagle has already explained the terrain really well so I won’t go into it again.
We stopped somewhere and looked at something and this photo was taken there.
But to get there we had to walk (not ride) up this really big hill and we were cursing Boony all the way. It must have worked because not long after we reached the top Boony started throwing up everywhere. Thanks for the view Boony! I meant the lookout.
Here are some of the other characters at the lookout.
Here’s Eagle at the lookout (although it looks like he’s growing something out the top of his head?) V-man is in the background.
Here’s DanD and me at the lookout.
After this we did a heap more riding and at one stop we showed once again how much we missed Menace.
At some point in time I went for a dip in one of the water crossings. We had like 10 water crossings or something for the day and I was pretty lucky because the one I came off in wasn’t deep like some of the others. Thankfully DanD was there pretty quick (you’ll see this on Chris’s video) so I wasn’t in the water long and didn’t even feel it (I think because I was so warm from the riding). I’ve since watched DanD’s footage of the other riders coming through and it nearly claimed a couple of others too. I was a bit wet for the rest of the day but it was all good.
Before we got to the Berry Farm for lunch we went down Parachute Hill. OMG. How steep and long was that hill? I thought we might have been close to losing V-Man at one stage because I came around a corner and he was backing his bike back from the edge but he reassured me later that he was actually sightseeing or something.
Lunch at the Berry Farm was great and I got a picture of two very familiar looking characters.
After lunch we went up this hill that was really steep and never ending. You’d get to what you thought was the top and then it would just keep coming at you. Wow!
We went through some single trail again and met up with a few more riders who seemed to tag along for a while and then when Boony gave everyone the option of heading back via the road everyone was keen to go.
What a day! It was great. Thanks to everyone who helped me out at some point in time. That includes DanD, Moose, V-Man, and Damus (No. 2 super sweep). Sorry if I missed anyone.
The next day (after bacon and eggs again) we headed out with some cooler weather than Saturday but the rain held off until the ride was finished thankfully. We saw some great sights including the gold mine, Hanging Rock lookout, Sheba Dam and MickG with his bike over Sheba Dam. Morning tea was fabulous with the hot coffee going down real well.
We then headed through Cathy’s property to get to the Trout Farm. This was where Boony and I had a little altercation. I came around a corner which was really slippery and there were these gooly rocks sticking out. I came off and was just about to get up when I felt a big bump and heard ‘I’m sorry, I’m sorry’. It took me a minute but I realised that someone and someone’s bike was actually on top of me. I couldn’t help it but I started cracking up laughing. I found the whole thing completely hilarious. I found out a little later that it was actually Boony but I think he thought I might have been crying. I can’t believe how quick Damus got there and they pulled the bike off me and stood me back up. I still couldn’t believe it. That has never happened to me before. Poor Boony was so apologetic but it was my fault because I fell off in the first place. I’m just so glad he wasn’t hurt.
I thought I was OK at the time but sometime later my leg starting hurting real bad. So much so that I couldn’t even stand up on the bike anymore.
Before it got too bad though we had to tackle a hill that really didn’t look too bad. But there was carnage all over the place. A bike would try to go up and get stuck then someone else would go up and get stuck. DanD tried to go past a couple to help out and got stuck!
I couldn’t believe it and I said to Damus that if they all struggled I had no chance. But anyway I had a go and it was more due to the fact that I had MickG pointing out the best way for me that I got up without any dramas.
Anyway we finally got to the Trout Farm and DanD and I decided to head home because we had to be back to pack up our cabin so we left the others to do the tour.
Overall it was a great weekend and this was mostly due to the company we had.
DanD is washing the bikes at the moment and found that other than a flat tyre on my bike and some sticker damage from my embrace with Boony everything was OK.
Thanks everyone! Wait till you see DanD’s footage.
July 27, 2009 at 4:48 am #145381Friday lunch time had arrived, 3 months of continuously saying to myself, what have I got myself into has come to and end,,OBT nundle 09 is finally here.
FRIDAY/SATURDAY report
Trucks loaded, farewells said to the family and I`m off, hooked up with Billy at 2.30 at our normal meeting place and then were on the road. Nundle for us is 40 minute.
Arrived at the caravan park and confirmed that everyone’s accommodation was sweet and got direction to our camp site, once camp was established we set off to find any other old bulls in the park, this is where we met PoppyD, kylies dad, Dave, top bloke, we had some concerns for them as it was taking so long for them to get there, but hey all was good as we seen the suby pull in to the caravan park. Welcomes’ were exchanged and we then unloaded their bikes,(we just do that up here Dan).
The rest of the crew dribbled in throughout the arvo and we decided to wait for the stragglers, Eagle and Chris before heading to the local for a beer,(I didn’t need any more).
We sat around the fire pit after we got back from the pub and got to know everyone better, I did pack a reserved for menace sign for a bit of fun, and didn’t it get a workout.
Saturday morning seen me being woken by Eagle and his ruddy video camera. Brekky was cooked wounds were licked and everyone started to get ready for the long anticipated nundle ride.
I held the ride brief explaining the Dangers we may come across in the form of piggers in their 4x4s and the fact we would be riding through 2 active logging areas.
7 ks of tar (sorry about that Chris, but they built the van park in the wrong spot) then it was into the forest we went. I had a route planned to get us to the local fire towers so the riders could see and appreciate the area we would be riding in but every trail I picked had a darn tree down on it, Apparently Bolls had his swim on this section of the ride. When your lead you do not get to enjoy the shenanigans’ that go on in the pack. Anyway I gave up and just headed to the main road to keep the ride flowing wasn’t long and we were walking 200 metres up a small incline to the fire tower lookout, My name was mud by the 100 metre mark. I must have swallowed a bug or a fly during the climb because I felt a tad ill at the summit.
The troops took in the view and agreed that it was worth the walk and that I would live a little longer.
Back on the bikes and it was time to show them where the dog on lino saying was used, How much fun is that wet red hard packed clay on a slight incline covered in pine needles, Narny had ball trying to spit me into the bush. I steered the posy towards the direction of one of the many single trails available to ride. At the end of the first single I had thumps up everywhere and people patting my back saying that trail was awesome, they had just started the best was to come. We set of into the pine timber tight single and Steve and I chased 4 sows that thought it would be fun to cross the trail in front of us. Out of the pine and off along a nice flowing wide single on route to the infamous Parachute hill. The other reports explain this hill pretty accurately. We headed along the black soil track that crosses the creek 5 times and apparently some people thought, (heck were at the creek let’s have a swim) sometimes leading is boring when all the fun is going on behind you. The ride wound its way out of the dam valley and onto the ridges towards the berry patch, I decided to regroup the team at an intersection and it was here that it was discovered there was no Eagle or Demmis, Mick g went back to lend a hand and all ended up well, it was only a slight hiccup on a hill.
We headed to the lunch venue and this is where my fun started, Dan pulls up behind me at the gate and proceeds to tell me that I had roosted him, (Unintentional of course) and I just looked at the muddy puddle in front of me as we were waiting for the gate to be opened, bugger me if Dan didn’t read my mind, bang the 4 fiddy runs into the narny’s rear wheel, I`m off balance and Dans heading for the puddle, Instinct took over throttle open I`m off heading to a big muddy puddle in front of us, Dan and I rubbed elbows and held the bikes open to race to the mud. I can say that was fun; we played for about 2 ks then we hit the berry patch boundary and had to behave. All the above took about 4 hours to do.
Lunch was consumed; bikes fuelled and were off, more single on our way back to the creek using a different trail. We made it to the weirs and I reminded everyone about the hill we were about to ascend, as the other reports say this thing seems to be over and then it just keeps going, This was where moose flew past on the ONLY Honda on the ride and full on roosted me with rocks,(enjoy your slab) I will do a distance check on the climb next time I`m riding it. All got up and that was the end of the technical stuff. We belted along a twin for about 7 ks dodging the odd wallaby then I shot us back into the pines for some more singles, when we come out the other side I was doing a head count and the group had grown by 4, every one looses riders not me I find strangers, we picked up a couple of blokes that thought they would tag along for a while. Durries where had and I threw the choice at a very tired looking group, singles or mains on the way home,, there was no arguing and mains was selected.
Back at camp no breakages no injuries, 3 months of worrying over and a brilliant ride to boot.
The bench racing at the pub was good to listen to as I missed all of it being up front,(I did get to play with Dan, and Steve on that ruddy 310 that fair dinkum hammers)The gift of a stubby holder was given out a few brewskies and tea was had then it was back to camp we headed and off to the fire pit and sat down and listened to some of the most hilarious stories I’ve every heard, Thanks Vman and Unit, All I can say is thank god for public education(you had to be there).
Photos and sundy report to come.Cheers

AnonymousDon’t worry Boony. I know you were out front but DanD still got some footage of you (falling off too). I am just about to start uploading them now so hopefully you can watch them tonight.
