Just arrived home this arvo after a few days catching up with mates “west of the range” following our epic Nundle adventure, great ride reports & piccies folks.
Huge thanks to the Tamworth crew for the organizing and the local trail knowledge:) The effort you put in made everyone’s weekend so enjoyable. Gotta be the best fun you can have with your pants on I reckon.
As with all the obt “away rides” I’ve been on, the company was what made the weekend really special for me. Great crew to ride with:)
Again thanks to Boony, Boll & crew, and by the way Vman, if I was riding a bike as modern as yours, I wouldn’t be following some old hippie on a smokey old stocker trailbike for long enough to get all fumed up.And I’d remember to go to the dunny at lunchtime instead of five minutes down the track!! Get over it!
    Cheers, Moose.

Nice quote Moose and so true

Menace I think enough people saw it and have mentioned it? And of all the people there riding he got roosted by a self confessed hippie on a 15 year old XR, worthy of a cartoon I reckon

Seeing Boony is getting his frilly knickers in a knot here is my SUNDAY report.

We set the clock for 6.30 on Sunday morning not wanting to be late for the Sunday ride. Went down to the camp kitchen and cooked up some bacon and eggs to keep us going till smoko. Went back to the cabin and got dressed ready to ride.

Everyone assembled down where Boony was camped and waited to go. After an Old Bull photo shoot, Bollocks handed out smoko to everyone there. Everyone got a zip lock bag containing a lamington and two Anzac biscuits.

Bollocks was to be leader on Sunday and gave us a pre-ride talk, telling us where we were going etc.

Our first stop was to be a gold mine. We rode up the hill from Nundle and assembled on an open area near the road. A few of us had a bit of a ride up the side of the hill while we were waiting. The word was given and we were off down a nice little twin trail which was a mix of dirt and rocks. I think everyone was looking for a bit of action with people passing each other and having some fun. I had one thing on my mind, and that was to roost the crap out of Boony – however every time I tried he was either just out of reach or not in a roostable position. We made it to the gold mine and had a bit of a look around.
Bollocks led us onto a track that unfortunately ran out due to a stinken fallen tree. A few had a look around to see if there was a way around the tree but short of cutting a new track it was decided to turn around and go back onto the road and up to the Hanging Rock lookout. The ride out was fun with myself, MickG and Super Unit having a run together. There was one corner that we come to where the Unit ended up a bit wide, Mick cut in tight and I decided to cut in even tighter. However Mick was a bit quicker and I borked at a rock in front of me and lost poll position. All the way back out to the road we were neck and neck – lots of fun.

Our next stop was the Hanging Rock lookout, everyone had a bit of a look around and a few photos to immortalise the weekend. From Hanging Rock we made our way to Sheba Dam for smoko, Bollocks opened his catering bag and bought out a couple of thermo’s of hot water, milk, cups, spoons, tea and coffee to go with our earlier issued lamos and biccies. (and I thought I was the OBT sherpa). The smoko went down a treat.

From Sheba dam we made our way to the farm that Bollocks had organised. The ride through the farm was good. Kylie tried to win the carton from Menace by laying down in front of Boony, Boony returned the favour by lying his bike and himself on Kylie.

We kept riding through the farm to a rocky little hill that had already claimed a few victims. I decided to ride up the hill to see if I could help and ended up needing help myself. Once all the bikes and carnage had been moved along, it was Kylies turn, bugger me she rode straight up without a worry in the world. A cheer went up from the crowd. Not a bad effort considering that it claimed nearly everyone.

Our next bit was down a hill and into a swampy type paddock. Looking around I thought this where Boony is going to meet his mud bath. I rode down the hill and found a nice little boggy hole, Boony came down the hill and I thought this is it. To bad he was just far enough away not to cop it.

We then followed some cattle trails up into the hill and came to a nice little up hill for a play. Only a few of us had a play with everyone else just taking a breather. We continued along the cattle trail but it ran out. We turned around with a MickG looking around up the side of the hill for a track to the top. The group broke up here with some people heading down the hill and back the way we come and others just disappearing. I was looking for a bit more adventure and followed MickG. Mick looked like he as on a winner up through the trees so I headed up towards him. I took a different line and passed close to a WR swallowing wombat hole. I made it to the top and Mick joined me shortly after taking a better line that I did. We sat up the top of the hill for a while and then heard the others at the bottom of the hill. I reckon the line that me and Mick took would of ended up with a lot less carnage but people were already heading up. Eagle gets the cigar up this hill with not being happy with going up just once, mid hill he lays his bike down, turns around and goes back down, taking out a tree on the way down.
With everyone now up the hill we kept moving, the next obstacle was a slippery little ditch next to a dam. Bollocks had the DR well and truly stuck here with a few helpful Old Bulls the DR was freed of the boggy quagmire. I opted for an easier route, well a little bit easier I still managed to stall the WR and get a little bit stuck. After starting the bike again I made my way to the top. I laid my bike over on the hill as it was a bit steep for the stand. I made my way down and then up the hill to see how Kylie was as her leg was starting to give her a bit of grief. Kylie was finding it a bit hard putting weight on her leg so I doubled her down the hill and then back up (bit stupid considering I left my helmet back up with my bike). With Kylie and her bike up the hill I made my way back down the hill to see how everyone else was going.
With everyone now across the bog we were onto some open cow paddock, I back wheeled it up the hill, watching out for rocks and wombat holes and we made it up to the road.
From there we were heading to the Trout Farm, time was starting to go against us now. We found the lost riders sitting up at the gate to the Trout Farm. We made our way down the road and ended up at the Trout Farm, Kylie and me decided that we would miss the tour of the Trout Farm as we told the in-laws and the kids we would be back by one. We said goodbye to everyone and made our way back.

Kylie was first into the shower as her leg as giving her a far bit of grief by now. My father in law helped me load the bikes and cram everything into the back of the Sube. With that all done I had a shower and it was time to go.

We were heading out of the caravan park when everyone was heading back in. We stopped at the Nundle Café and had lunch and then we were off.

Novice passed us as we were leaving Nundle and later Chris and Eagle were on our tail.

We got home at around 5.00 or so took the trailer off the car and that was the end of our weekend.

Monday was our RDO so I spent the day cleaning the bikes (topdressing the front yard with all the dirt that came off the bikes)

The D’s enjoyed the weekend very much and are looking forward to Nundle 2010.

Thanks to Boony, Bollocks and Eagle for organising the weekend and everyone who was there.
