There were Flats.
There Was carnage on the hills!
There Was destruction of Machinery. Where is Russel Ingal.
There was Alien creatures that sucked your blood!
There will be more to come … you wont have to wait long and it will be worth it!December 19, 2010 at 10:43 am #193000http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qc0WQDKXRvU
This is Pep working on his skills for the half pipe . Not as good as Bollocks 180 at Coffs but it looks good.
December 19, 2010 at 11:32 am #193001Nice pictures Aaron
Am looking forward to more thanks
Hey I have been around bikes a bit and the below looks like a WR250 front sprocket is my guess  . My question is who turned up with a front sprocket like that who Aaron? Name and shame them

December 19, 2010 at 11:38 am #193029Mmmmm WR 250!looks like coastal rust has formed on the sprocket and chain?????who had a 250 at the coffs ride????????
December 19, 2010 at 11:39 am #193002I have already told Boony whose it was and I am sworn to secrecy. Because when boll an I traveled over to Coffs we said what happens in the forest stays in the forest  He has a bit of dirt(water) on me so I wont say anything!
December 19, 2010 at 8:50 pm #193003We did offer Boll a 50c coin as a replacement. It would have had better teeth than what he turned up with. His bike was making a god awful racket but he did make it up all the hills.
Bolls comment was, “I’ve got a spare one at home, just waiting for this one to wear out before I change it”.
December 19, 2010 at 8:59 pm #193004Funny how Boony didn’t go??! Ever since he won that award he let himself go  In more ways than one. Maybe you could award Boll the trophy for next year he is in need of some fresh sprockets!
December 19, 2010 at 9:38 pm #193005Left home 6.30am and the first the thing I hear as I turn the radio on was “It’s a fine line between pleasure and pain, if you can do it once you can do it a again”. Thought this was a fine omen for the commencement of the ride where I was about to tackle all the best hills Nundle has to offer.
Was a bit nervous about the weather. I figured the predicted torrential downfalls were not going to improve my chances of coming out unscathed. Luckily these never eventuated and it was actually fairly grippy.
Saddled up and hit the trails following Houses fine figure. We headed out to the steps first. All was going well although there were a few laughs as a few of the boys slid down some of the hills on the way there. Got to the creek crossing at the bottom of the steps and there were bikes everywhere. Had to dewater Aarons bike and a xr400 after a couple of little laydowns. Finally got the xr going and following Aaron up the rest of the hill was like riding through a tropical fog there was that much water coming out of the exhaust.
Had a little incident on one of the fire trails. Thought I would pass somebody going down a hill even though it wasn’t the best line. Had to jump across two deep ruts and this part was fine, only to find that it led to one god almighty bike swallowing rut on the downside of a cliff face drop and I couldn’t stop in time. Into I went and the whole front end wedged solid instantly. Of course myself and the rest of the bike kept on coming. Didn’t end up going over the bars but the bike pivoted around the headsteam until it hit the bump stops and then I just kept going. No damage to me but there were some awful cruching noises coming out of the bike and I thought there would have to be serious damage the way it twisted. Luckily the ground was soft and it looks like I just pulled the headlight plate off and crunched a blinker.
We then did the rocky hill in Aarons video and about half of us made it up. Pep was sweep and he road up and down all day keeping those at the top informed of carnage below.
The day was getting long in the tooth by now and the boys wanted to go home and get their mums to tuck them into bed. Aaron mentioned that one of the hills we were meant to ride was nearby, so I said I was up for it if he was. The men (Aaron, Zack, Jarrod and me) seperated from the women and went and had a look at “Sweet mother of Jesus” (I hope I got that right). There is another name for it as well but it is a little uncouth and I don’t need to have to go to church any more times than I already am this week so I won’t mention it here.
On the way there we had to cross this minor trickle in a creek. Aaron was leading to this point and he stopped dead before the creek. I think he has Hydrophobia after some recent bad experiences, so I held his hand for a minute and led him through.
This was the bottom of the hill. Me being the only one who hadn’t even seen the hill before, Aaron thought it was only right that I go first and that he not give me any tips on the lines. We couldn’t see the way at this stage as it was around the next corner.
Off I went, got round the corner and holy crap, this hill was 20m wide, not as steep as I was led to believe (small blessings), but it was 20m of solid ruts. Most of them weren’t that big at the bottom but the biggest ridge between ruts was 3 bike tyres wide and even they ran out as the ruts crossed over on the way up. Nothing for it so, I thought I saw a line on the left around the edge that may not be too bad, and off I go. Of course after about 10m this perfect line became a rut (who would have thought) but it was grippy and the bike kept going so I decided to stay with it. With some gentle persuasion made to a point where I could stop and watch the carnage below. Everybody made it but we had help Zack on the CR250 2T. A little too much powerband wasn’t helping his cause. Funnily enough Zack learnt how to tractor a 2T by the time we got to the top.
We were only one third up at this stage but the rest wasn’t too bad due to the grip. Aaron had a little slide at one point but offered to neuter me if I gave him assistance and rendered his summit invalid. The worst part of the hill was walking back down to help Zack on stage 2 only to find he didn’t need much help and then have to walk back up whilst Zack rested at the top.
Sorry I have no footage but Jarrod got some video so hopefully he will put it up.
December 19, 2010 at 9:52 pm #193006A couple of the boys learnt a valuable lesson coming back from the last hill. Apparently when you are riding on the road through a town when there is a police car on the side of the road in that town it is not the wisest move to pop a wheelie down the street, even if the kids at the fair are egging you on. The boys ended up having a lengthy conversation with said policeman who luckily let them off with a warning.
All in all a good day. Thanks to Boll and House for organising, Pep for sweeping and the other boys for the entertainment.
December 19, 2010 at 10:27 pm #193007Good report Roy. You did not mention how many hours we rode for..we wont mention the K’s. Yes I think I am a waterphobic now it will be months till I will be able to have a bath. Also that leech made a mess of my back it took ages to stop bleeding. I still have him alive in the Powerade bottle the kids think he’s great. I think he might come to a sad end under my work boots. Maisie(5) said “you cant kill it God made it!” Wrong. Seems like quite a religious ride with the “Sweet Mother of Jesus” being there and all! No Roy we wont mention the C word. Also a note to all If you ride a cr No make that MWM250(to keep it all legit) and you ride it like a fool you will run out of fuel first. Probably on the way home . Thanks to Roy the NRMA rep for helping out with a fuel transfer.
