Tried to get a ride together for today but Boony Bollocks and the rest were scared they might get wet and damage their styled hair. The only two to front up were myself and ageless super sweep Damus. We decided to mark out some new singles and then go for a run. We cut in two new trails that will link beautifully to our existing network and while wandering around in the pines managed to get swarmed with leaches – how do those arseholes survive drought conditions then be there waiting to feast on the next rider to wander thru after it rains ???
We were having a break at the end if the last bit when two young locals rode out of one of our existing singles and after a chat we offered to show them some other runs and it was during this run thru the forest disaster struck Damus. At a spot in the trail where a big tree was down someone had built a ramp bridge over the tree made out of pallets. We have been riding over this for a while now but surprise surprise a tree branch had come down and taken out the far side of the ramp leaving a 1.2 m drop into branches broken pallets and shit
I was leading and was lucky enough to hit the ramp with some pace and managed to clear the debris but Damus was riding more careful and unfortunately could neither jump nor stop in time and ended up nose diving into the ground suffering a massive gash from chin to mouth and another under the eye. (Old school open face helmet). I patched him up and we rode back to the cars and the poor old bugger is currently up at my work getting stitched up.
When you analyse it there can be no doubt Boony is at fault as he would have normally been the next one over the ramp instead of Damus who would be sweeping so boony hope your feeling weak for not coming and then Getting Damus hurt.Tough bugger through Damus he off mustering cattle for market first thing in the morning.

February 16, 2014 at 8:00 am #254210awesome report, myself and a few blokes from Quirindi did a run up there yesterday too, Alot of the forest was in prime conditions. But some singles through the pines have been riden quiet alot in the dry and were made very hard pack. With a bit of rain on them it was making us question our riding skills. Thankgod for Barkbusters.
Were the 2 young blokes you came across snowy on a CRF and WR by any chance ? we came across too young fella’s lost at the end of some of the new singles up there.February 16, 2014 at 8:25 pm #254217Yep. So obviously my instructions to them were not that clear
February 17, 2014 at 7:02 am #254163Jeez Snow…your hard on the poor old sweep
I think its high time we Tamworth blokes chipped in and bought Damus a full faced helmet,we might have to put some old retro stickers on it and bash it up against a tree 20 times before he accepts it
Bit like a cranky old Brahman cow accepting an orphan poddy calf
Just saw Kenny at the Woolimin shops today and i told him what happened,he was on that trail that arvo and saw that you guys had thrown bits of timber on it to stop anyone else going over it.Being a copper i thought he might have thrown a bit of blue and white tape around it and declared it a crime scene…bits of Damus face everywhere
Anyone know the size of Damus melon???,might just get a gift voucher at Bikes and bits
Sorry i couldnt be there Snowy

We gave them instructions too but we got very confused looks in return. I haven’t herd on the news about lost motorbike riders in nundle so one way or another they found their ute.
