Shit Ev don’t give him any ideas, we will be pushing our bikes for a whole 40kms. There are some mad hills in there, but I prefer to be able to ride at least most of the way up them.

Plus I don’t think it will be anywhere near as slippery as the Bellingen 4 day 😆

I will be announcing a major prize at the auction watch this space next week. Sponsor gear is rolling in steadly and I will pu a list up with a week or so to go. Save your money there will be prizes and gear for auction a plenty.

To everyone arriving on Friday after talking with some of the guys we are worried about groups going riding Friday given how people could end up going different directions etc head-ons could be a drama. There are people coming to help setup, cut firewood, run the lights, set the generators up so maybe it would be best if no one rode. I mean you are all big boys and can make your own minds up but if we all get in and get it done it’s shared and we can have a drink sooner

TB I will have to pull out of the birthday ride. Went out after lunch today and did a very enjoyable 70ks on the new cfr250. The bike was doing everthing I had hoped it would do and I was smiling :) and thinking money well spent.
The crf got the two thumbs up. Shame one of the thumbs is now broken after loosing it in the gravel 500m from home. Will now be in plaster for 6 weeks shit happens. Have a good weekend to all going

Can I ask everyone coming to pm me or post up the ride grade they want to do or lead rider they would like to ride with?

This hopefully will give us an idea of the size of the groups and then we can adjust the rides to suit.

If we have the majority of riders wanting a grade 3, I have another local lead rider on standby (sort of).

    Grades/leaders

Eagle – grade 2 adventure style ride

    Medogrocket – grade 3ish (hopefully)

Mal5.1 – grade 3 (with help on the hills)

GaleyKTM300 – grade 4 (hill climb heros ride) Some of Galeys hills will suck the life out of the unfit.

    OBT ride grades

Grade 2) Now we’re getting the hang of it! Twin trail and open single line, ready to tackle something a bit more challenging. You want to take on a few easier hills, rocks, ruts and roots across varied terrain but would need some assistance in case things go wrong. Frequent rest breaks and assistance form other riders is likely to be required.

Grade 3) I’ve seen most obstacles riding has to offer and a have good idea of how to handle them, the odd push and helping hand wouldn’t hurt. No crazy hills yet though! Don’t mind stopping for a few rest breaks to catch my breath.

Grade 4) You’ve been around a while haven’t you! Been on some tougher rides, happy to sweep and even get up the front. You can ride most obstacles without a problem and can mostly get up the bigger hills on your own. You can maintain a good pace for most of the day with infrequent rest stops. Minimal assistance required.

Grade 5) Can ride any track and hill that you can find and can sort myself out if it all goes pear shaped. Will need help only on the toughest of sections. Can go all day and only minimal stops are required.

    Lads and Lassies,

Galeys ride will be a mix of grade 4 and 5.

*This has been designed by me to give riders tough challenges for the entire 75kms. I have lads travelling big distances to experience THE WORST HILLS AND TRAILS in Sunny Corner.
*There will be minimal fire trails, even riding in the scrub next to the firetrails at times. The first singles are 100m from camp and the first firetrail is 15km in. This will only give you a breather for 3km before we tackle the hard hills section which are all grouped together.
*You will need a new or near to new rear tyre and a very good front tyre as I have lots of off camber slopes to ride, gnarly hills that demand top traction.
    * You will be exhausted and stay exhausted for most of the ride. The only time you will get a rest is when you are at the top of a hill waiting for the sweep to come up. Or if you vomit inside your helmet.
*I have found that on most grade 4 and above rides that you get minimal assistance unless you are hurt or stuck under your bike.

This is a friendly warning as the ride leaders want you to enjoy the ride you do and not whinge about it. So please choose the correct grade for your ability and your safety.

My mate Nath (Dualsport) wants some grade 5 action.

    #221610

Seems fair to me, Galey. B)
On these sorts of rides you don’t really want too many novices. ;) :pinch:
I’m sure if there are any grade 3 riders out there wanting to have a crack at grade 5 riding, it could be arranged at another date with a smaller group. (Thats the best way to really have a go) :woohoo:
75kms of grade 4-5 riding will be punishing and may not be achievable if the group is big. Galey knows the area well and I’m sure he will cut sections out if time becomes an issue.
Hope I didn’t scare anybody off.
    Go hard Dudes
