In January Old Bulls are taking Trailzone Magazine and Steve from Adventure Moto to the High Country. Lance from Trailzone will be writing a feature on Old Bulls, what we all do here day to day and the ride of course. Also worth mentioning is Clubby from Trailzone is planning on attending the Birthday ride at Sunny Corner next May for a dose of OBT, single trail style as well.
As for this ride we will be leaving from Windsor at 7am on Tuesday the 24th returning Sunday the 28th around 2100kms for the five odd days.
This ride will be treated as a full navigation style ride like the APC where the route will be loaded into your GPS and you and your ride buddy will follow it. Regroups will be further apart, the reason for the switch to a navigation ride is to reduce the need to sit in others dust, reduce corner wait times and a good practice for the APC. It will also give people more GPS time and understanding.We will be going out through Mt Wilson, Bilpin, back of the Zig Zag railway, up through Sunny Corner, Tarana, The pine forest back of Oberon, downthrough Jenolan Caves, out through Dingo Dell, Mt Werong, Burraga, Abercrombie National Park, Binda, Gunning, Jeir, Brindabella National Park, Bimbera National Park, Cabramurra, Jagungal Wilderness, Khancoban, Mt Pinnibar, Benanbra, Omeo, Dinner Plain, Hotham Heights, Buckland, Mt Buller, Mt Stirling, and on to Craig’s Hut. A turn around back to Hotham Heights turn off at Dinner Plain down to Tongio West, Swifts Creek, Nunniong State Forest, Brumby and up the Barry Way into Jindabyne. From there a run out past Berridale and up to Numeralla, Anembo, Braidwood, Wog Wog, Windellama, Bungonia Recreation Area, Marulan, Brayton, Canyonleigh, Belanglo State Forest and back to Thirlmere Pub via the old railway service track. We are planning to camp with maybe a pub stay one night (not like the pub fest last April
)
The route will use a few sections from this years High Country ride and a heap of new riding including Craig’s Hut. I have always wanted to go to Craig’s Hut so that for me will be a highlight as will Mt Pinnibar being that is a challenge on an enduro bike its massive on an adv bike
So now its just waiting for Christmas to get out of the way and we can go riding!! I have some new bits and pieces for the Tenere, some bling, practical gear, different tyres and some new camping gear to test. Also I have got the new Spot Connect up and running so it will be worth seeing how it tests against the older Spot trackers.
It will also be a navigation style ride now, meaning that you will be following the route on your GPS rather than a cornerman style ride. I will pair guys without GPSs up with those that have, maybe it’s time to get one :laugh:Limited numbers this time

December 22, 2011 at 4:57 pm #212920Been a couple of changes to this ride, like where it’s starting, where it’s going on the first day, the fact that it’s a navigation style ride more so than a cornerman ride. Please check the first post
