Cheers Guys this is all a big help, the annual membership thing would require a lot of administration time and effort, if you like that idea you could just donate on an annual basis :)

Shane you point of a special area is valid ;)

But a special range of stickers, shirt and stubbie holders for financial members paid once a year by a certain date could be another option :)

Hey TB I am happy to Donate or Contribute in any way that I can to help the site continue to be a success.

    Need any more wheel Chocks?

If we had an idea what it would cost each of us annually to keep the site growing we could self regulate our “annual membership”.

Pay a quarter when you pay your rates or pay the whole amount when you renew your rego or on your birthday etc.

That way it requires no administration, no sign on fee and once new crew have posted 25 or so messages or been on a few rides they can be let in on the membership deal.

The D’s will contribute to the cause this weekend TB.

I reckon the idea of an annual donation is the go and don’t think anyone would have a problem of doing this.

Some special stickers to identify that your not a tight arse and contribute to the site would be excellent. Give you that warm and fuzzy feeling. But that in itself leads to more administration for the site owners so probably not so good idea.

Top job to all that have made the site what it is:) I for one enjoy my OBT time and the great people that I have met through OBT (The riding part of it rates high as well)

Thinking, should the donations reach over and above our requirements to cover the admin cost of Oldbulls we could have future OBT of the year type comps or simular with the remaining funds to which donatees can enter.

This or the stickers will reward the ones whom wish to assist with the on going cost of running this site, I think it would also encourage the non payers to cough up a bob or 2 to try and get involved with what everyone else on the sight has access too.
Ollie has already offered his services(thought menace would have been first to offer himself or his pet goat) and reading all the postive comment on this thread shows the support for the site is out there.
As we probably cant force payment(unsure) we need to reward payment if you get where Im coming from.

Thanks everyone for your assistance so far, what a great response. I believe that donations will be tax deductible as we are registered as a not for profit club, I will confirm this with the accountant tommorrow. Depending on how we go with donations, I would prefer not to have a yearly membership unless we can come up with some worthwile extras, like a pic of Moto in the shower with each subscription, also the administration of this would be very time consuming. HOWEVER, I strongly would like to have some sort of system that does reward those who have donated and who have assisted this site to grow as much as it has, I have a few ideas to mull over, It may be something like the bull pit that is only open to those members that have donated or your own obt email address or something like that. Please donate what you feel the site is worth to you and how much entertainment and frustration it gives you I think it’s worth donating just to read Menaces Posts. If everybody donated a little we would be sweet. We welcome any ideas anyone may come up with.

    Cheers and thanks again

    Chris.

I would like to think that enough of us will donate so that we do not have to have a membership fee!! This would i think put people off joining, most people on this site know the value we get from well organised rides and a great site to voice our opinions and form new freindships with like minded people. whats that worth to us?? Just donate what you can afford.:)
My brother and i over the years have organised some outback 4wd and motorcycle trips, We always at the end of every day have a fines session around the camp fire or at the pub, where everyone can fine anybody for what they did or did not as the case may be that day, all fines are minimum gold coin donation. You would be suprised how much money we raised for the flying doctors on those trips!! We just donate to Old Bulls instead. Membrship could also have some legal probs too.

i think maybe a 1/4ly or maybe 6 monthly update on the finances to date needed to run the site?

or even just a funds needed to continue for the next 1/4 so that the members can see and donate an amount, and then once that amount is reached lock the tread or something.

just my input on what could be put in place before the compulsory membership fee is imposed.

SORRY for the admin crew! another point to ponderB)

I’m assuming you need donations up front now but if cashflow is a problem in the future you could encourage members to set up monthly donations to come directly out of their bank accounts. I do this all the time for all of our donations to our charities. Some of ours I only donate $5 or $10 per month to individual charities but there are quite a number of them. And if the donation is tax deductible then great.

If you got a number of members to voluntarily do this then you can get an idea of future cashflow problems (I am an Accountant remember and I love doing cashflows). The only problem with this is that its a voluntary system.

Because the D’s personally get a lot out of this site I will set up a monthly payment. So be nice to us or we’ll f@#k off!

thinking we probably need a $ figure as a minimum donation for the 12 month period, so we dont have some donating 100 and some donating 5
Shirt we all know what the donation is for so i think putting a minimun shouldnt upset anyone.

Hey Kylie that’s a great idea, I do that for my donations as does TB, I think a little often you don’t miss but a big donation in 1 hit can hurt the cashflow. And re your PM, THANK YOU. We’ll have to make up some kiddie stickers for their lunchboxes.

    Cheers

I think OBT is going to be happy with any donations Boony and it should be more to do with how much you can afford (global credit crisis and all) as well as how much you get out of the site. If you get a lot out of the site and you are quite affluent then donate $1,000,000 ( ) but if you can’t then donate $5.

I really don’t think that the site owners are going to care about each person’s individual donations. The fact that you do donate and care about the future of OBT is the main thing.

    Can you feel the love?
