I believe there are plenty of stickers left so we can give some stickers to those that have donated.

    Well Done Mick!!

    Cheers
    Chris.

Cheers mate. Its funny, I’ve been involved in different forums over the past 7 years and I have put a bit of time and effort into some of them but I’ve never contributed financially before that. I think because you blokes I met on the weekend seem genuine and the site seems full of that good spirit you mention it seemed to make proper sense to.

BTW I haven’t had a look at the Old bull merchandise yet but if you guys want some great stubbie holders I bought 30 for my bucks @$5each off this bloke on the internet and they’re like magazine prints attached to insulation. I know he does it cheaper if you buy more and I reckon most people would be happy to pay at least $10 for one so it’d be a good way to get some ongoing revenue. He might even do individual one’s etc if you ask or you could do 10 with each brand to start with etc. You just send him the pic you want and the text and he designs it all for you.

site is http://www.coolaz.com.au – no connection but he seemed fair dinkum. (mine was the same as “wayno’s” on the bucks party link ;) I’d be pretty keen on one with my avatar on it actually :) )

    Cheers.

TB its appreciated mate but unless there’s no base cost (i.e unless the alloy is foreign order from a job) most of us probably already have one and would chuck it on the shelf as a spare. I’d rather a sticker or stubbie holder mate :D

Is this bloke who makes stubbie coolers an OB I think the boys get them made by an old bull now:blush:

    Funny Story!

On friday morning I deposited some money for some OBT mechandise into the NAB account and then PM’d TB to let him know.

Come Friday afternon and I see this thread and PM back to say forget sending the product, call it a donation to the site and I will pay again next week.

Now I see the offer of the free seal saver, and guess what one of the things I ordered were, a seal saver!

I don’t type this to try and get props for making a donation, I have not even been on a ride yet but the info I have gotten from the site and technical help I have recieved has been priceless. I have been involved in other sites for other sports and everytime somebody asked a question they got shot down and slagged off. That just does not happen here.

I just thought a few of you might crack a smile from my story and it was also and opourtunity to say publicly how valuable and well natured this site is. It is a credit to you all.

    Group Hug!

    TB
As far as the merchandise I will stick with my PM from today and sort out some more money on Tuesday.

You seem like a top bloke so I look forward to riding with you. Maybe you can buy me lunch to

    #131815

    Hey Moto

I’ll run you over some lunch on our ride and you can cook it while I crack us a few home brews. North Coast style!

Yeh STM well done mate. I made a donation today as well and when I PM’d TB I told him of my Idea to supply some more seal savers for those who donate over $50 it was just an Idea,so for a limited time I will have to get busy and make some more.I do this at no cost to the site its just my way of contributing. I have met a heap of top people and been on and organised many rides through OBT,this site is gold B) Help support the site however you can,use the sponsors and let them know you found out about them through OBT.

PS hope to get on a ride up your way one day

    cheers OllieB)

This is a good site and good resourse for rides. On the two rides I have participated in the people have been tops and the help given appreciated.(Even though they took me down bloody Hitchcocks:woohoo::laugh:)I don’t mind chipping in with a few dollars soon as I work out how to transfer the money!

    But…………………

One concern I have with something like this is the chance of an “us and them” syndrome building up over time. Some might want to stay on the site and participate in the rides but don’t want to give money. How will you treat them. After all it is voluntary and is their choice to give or not to give.

You are already singling them out by marking the donars posts with green dots. The words “tight arses” have already been mentioned.

I understand the need for donations and nobody should be losing money for keeping a good site like this going but be careful just how you handle it. You have a good tight knit dirt bike community on here at the moment, don’t do something that will divide it.

Maybe a yearly fee for all might be a good idea. Or even a “Club Mud” idea where the fee payers get extra rights on the site might be the go. Then you either pay for the extra rights or you don’t.

I fully realise that the more you get into this the more complicated it gets for the administrators on the site. The simplest way is just to stick with the donations. Just in my opinion there are dangers lurking that you need to be aware of.

This really shows the OBT spirit.:)

A mate puts out the call and everyone is happy to get in and help where they can.

Great well though out post Al,all things we should consider really. Thanks for pointing those issues out.As for an “us and them” caper,I am hoping the Old Bull Spirit wouldn’t make that an issue.

You are quite right Al and believe me when I say consideration is given to every decision made at Old Bulls as we want to be seen to be doing the right thing at all times. You are also right when you say it is difficult, because it is, but the people donating money should be entitled to some recognition for it. If people choose not to donate that is entirely their decision for which I am sure they have their reasons and nobody at OBT will hold it against them. It’s not the Old Bull way.

Having green dots or access to a private part of the site can both be construed as segregation. Regarding your statement above, that’s what we already have in place. If you choose to donate, you get some swanky green dots and the title of site contributor :) However, this is one of those issues where no matter what you do, there is an argument not to do it.

At the end of the day everything is flexible and if, after review, people are unhappy with the way things are then inevitably they are likely to get changed :)

Good points Al, but I dont know if I agree with you entirely. We get already get the benefits of DBW’s “club mud” here for free. Downloading pictures etc. I dont really think that anyone would victomise or demoralise someone if they choose not to contribute to the site. It is entirely up to the individual if they do or not.

Only my thoughts, for what they are worth.
