a quick % of members now donatees against members yet to donate.
just for my sake if you could TB.

cause I recon before long the donatees will be a higher %.

I feel that yes you will get segregation and there will be dead wood, but all I can say is that I am more than willing to assist with a finacial attribute toward the Old Bulls web site and I can only speak for me.
I wonder if the non donaters would and could really enjoy being on rides knowing they havent contributed to the mothership???I know I would feel sqirmish (is that a word)because the subject would probably be bought up in conversation.
My say

open throttles and smooth trails
Boony

No more group hugs BOYS thats sic
Ps menace get notted

Remember if you are in the running for a seal saver or stickers because of your donation you have to let me know by PM or it wont happen

Boony you’re only thinking from the perspective of a long standing member. One of the best attributes of this place was that I was able to wander in and be accepted immediately without feeling like there was a big clique like you see on sites like DBW.

I agree with the thrust of this thread and if donations are needed then I am in. But let me act as the “devils advocate” for a moment.

This is cut and pasted for the original post by Trailboss.

“If you wish to PM me and let me know its done and through or you can remain nameless, it doesn’t matter no one will know besides us
We will in the future have a paypal tab on the site that you can make paypal donations at any time but for now we will do it by bank transfer
All donations will be remain private

I already know who has donated by the green dots so I take it that you can say “no green dots for me I want to remain nameless”. Has anyone done that yet?

I know that those thanking for the seal savers have donated more than $50.

Another thing reared it’s head as I was thinking about the site.

What are the legal ramifications of asking for donations to run a web site? Have you looked into it? Do you have to provide a reciept for the monies? Do you have to provide a balance sheet at regualar intervals?

As your site grows so will the percentage of discontents and whingers grow.(I am not either by the way:P) That is the way of things. Small seads don’t necessarily grow healthy trees. The saplings have to be nursed and tended to produce the best plant.

These are just some thoughts of mine to throw into the ring for discussion. This is a top site and is, by your own admission, growing rapidly.

Be double sure you are on the right track with what you do. I wish only the best for the site.

only been a member for about 4/5 weeks I think, please correct me TB
As per you these people have accepted me unconditionally, think that where the pasion comes from.
was actually looking at from a newby perspective I thought, but u know me, normally say it wrong.

Dont normally care about saying it wrong however i am under no circumstances trying to discourage anyone ,I enjoy the cyber people i have met and I think this site is on a winner and I want to support it

thats all

haha looks like I got it wrong too boony sorry for the assumption. I just feel that in regards to feeling awkward for not having contributed, unless you’d experienced the value of the site I doubt you’d know better.

Once again Old Al has bought up food for thought (not in the chundering way). All good points Al,sometimes we might appear to be flying by the seat of our pants (that’s because we are)I also tend to ride the same way. Make a decision and deal with the ramifications,if there are any, at a later date. All good points once again that will be addressed by admin as time allows.

I know that those thanking for the seal savers have donated more than $50. So when on a ride and walking around the trailers whilst suiting, how will you know if they purchased them or received them for donating them, we have sold and given away plenty before now haven’t we Ollie?
Another thing reared it’s head as I was thinking about the site.

This is a good site and good resourse for rides. On the two rides I have participated in the people have been tops and the help given appreciated.(Even though they took me down bloody Hitchcocks:woohoo::laugh:)I don’t mind chipping in with a few dollars soon as I work out how to transfer the money!

But…………………

One concern I have with something like this is the chance of an “us and them” syndrome building up over time. Some might want to stay on the site and participate in the rides but don’t want to give money. So what the answer then How will you treat them. I dont see a problem, should we then have a special section, maybe a tee shirt oh cant do that either, so whats the answer
After all it is voluntary and is their choice to give or not to give. thats right thats how we are treating it arent we?

You are already singling them out by marking the donars posts with green dots. The words “tight arses” have already been mentioned. So what should we do with that person for having an opinion
I understand the need for donations and nobody should be losing money for keeping a good site like this going but be careful just how you handle it. So the better idea is what, we are trying, but give us s better idea
You have a good tight knit dirt bike community on here at the moment, don’t do something that will divide it.

Maybe a yearly fee for all might be a good idea. Or even a “Club Mud” idea where the fee payers get extra rights on the site might be the go. DBW has problem in this area already and we arent them Then you either pay for the extra rights or you don’t. what extras to you recommend Al?
I fully realise that the more you get into this the more complicated it gets for the administrators on the site. The simplest way is just to stick with the donations. Just in my opinion there are dangers lurking that you need to be aware of.

Ideas then?

OK, if anyone has any really good ideas how we can do this, please post them up.
Bearing in mind, that the guys that will have to do the work involved, have full time jobs and families aside from OBT, we are doing this for free and with the best intentions.

Anytime in the past, when I have made a donation to what ever cause,it was exactly that, “a donation” and I expected nothing in return except a receipt.

The green lights are gone, donate if you wish again there is no pressure (never was) and only I will know, still PM me regarding your donation and you will still receive a seal saver if your quick enough and over the threshold, but tell people you bought it or to mind their own bees wax

Am doing the best we can

BINGO

we are DONATING our money under our own accord, when i donate to other not for profit organization i do not really track down what happens to my hard earnt i trust the coin goes towards the running of the organization and its ever increasing admin fees. If oldbulls feel the need to spend money on a reciept book along with postage to get the reciept to me so be it,but no thanks.
maybe i should have loaned the money to oldbulls with a 99 year repayment clause:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
Yeh dont highlight online but lets remember in 8 or 9 months these are the people that are assisting with OUR site,

PS havent said this before but shit yous blokes do a shithot job and keep it up or Im sending menace..yeh scared now arent you
