Quote:Holy Crap what a raucus, we just asked for a hand people there was no intention to cause a stir and to be honest we didn’t expect it, I personally have probably spent over 100hours working on this site and I have never benefited in any financial way nor will I ever, nor will I ever be in the running for any prizes etc as part of the admin team. If anything I have suffered financially for the good of the site. If you can’t or don’t want to donate that is not a problem if you can then great. That will be all from me on this subject except thank you to those that have decided to support us in whatever way you can/have/will wether it be financial, organisation, labour, input, jokes, prize donations etc, or just being online enjoying the banter.
Regards
Chris
In the scheme of things (internets-wise) I think this ‘raucous’ was pretty lame. I’d have not called it a ‘raucous’. What we have here, if I may place things into a bit of perspective, is one of our founding members on behalf of the Admin group making a plea for funds to keep the site running as a result of bandwith increases. I know bugger all about the internets and can’t see the benefit of the increase, but I digress. Then we had some people express their opinions and offer ome advice. (I may have even been one of that lot but I couldn’t be arsed scrolling back to see.) Then some got a little bit of sand in their vaginas about those people expressing their opinions. Now really, this is the internets, with real people on the other sides of those screens and the unfortunate fact is they all hold opinions and sometimes they express them. Getting sand in one’s vagina about people expressing an opinion contrary to your own is like not possessing a passport…and worrying about the weather forecast in Japan!
I’m okay with the initial request and my question about tax deductions was tongue in cheek. Do I have any suggestions? Well, not really. Aside from either seeking funds from members or advertisers I reckon the team would be scratching for ideas. That’s it I guess. Either the members shell out , advertisers/sponsors shell out or the whole thing folds.
I think, personally, incorporating the Old Bulls would be a mistake opning a whole new can of worms. (I hte the Incorporation Act!!!)
WillI donate/join as a member? Probably, but the general populace will not know about it if I choose to do so.
This is clearly a case of people making a bigger mole hill out of a mole hill:laugh:
Perhaps this threa should have been locked immediately after TB’s request?
That’s all I have to ay about that…

May 3, 2009 at 7:51 am #132038Firstly I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who has already donated
Your contribution is greatly appreciated and you can rest assured that the funds will be put towards the operating costs of the site and keeping the OBT spirit alive.
It is clear that there are a lot of passionate and generous people here at OBT and most of you have had your chance to express your opinions and views on how we can keep things growing and moving forward. For that, we thank you too, because without you OBT wouldn’t be what it is today.
The admin team have had in depth discussions regarding how we continue through 2009 and beyond and we have taken aboard all the valid comments that have been raised in this thread. With this in mind we have decided that for the foreseeable future site donations will be the way in which we can generate sufficient revenue to cover our financial responsibilities.
Lastly, I would like to add that you do not have to donate anything if you choose not to or are not in the financial position to do so. Please note however that we are still accepting donations now and in the future and your donation however small lifts some of the burden off of TB & Chris who, to date, have kept the site running out of their own pockets. Donations can be made as per the first post in the thread.
Thank you,
The Admin Team

Instead of flooging the guts out of the watagans, going around and around the same tracks till we all lose the place for good, why dont you come and do some decent tight single trail around Orange Old Man. Step outside your comfort zone? Maybe come up to Wauchope and race the pony express with the rest of us?

Nah give up racing a few years ago now,no fun anymore.
Im discovering new tracks every time I go into the Watagans and theyre not all flogged out. Although Orange does sound intersesting in the Pine forests. I will have to organise a ride up at Dungog with some of the local legendsB)Ollie
