nope. Lived in the shed for 4 years while building the house and then moved the tools in from the other end of the shed.

Also I have no carpet at all in the house, just burnished coloured contcrete.

Cheers mate. Apparently a metal drum with a plastic lid isn’t good enough (the plastic lid wasn’t anyway).

If he doesn’t stop biting stuff soon he will be demoted to the garden until further notice. I reckon he’s eaten over $800 worth of my stuff so far! That’s fatal eatings too not partial nibblings

Wait till you get a vet bill… if he keeps eating stuff he shouldn’t it will happen soon enough.

Our Lab ate something while we were on holidays at Eden, we still don’t know what. $1700 later, plus a drive back to Merimbula to pick her up… It was suspected to be snail bait. Could also have been mouldy nuts. Symptoms presented a lot like snakebite.

Things to look out for: Garbage (especially plastic that has been used to wrap food), rotton veges, snail bait or similar, cooked bones and the list goes on.

Be very careful moto, it is not a nice thing to happen, let alone the cost!

Hey MOTO why dont you do what I am doing with my little puppy MJ, he is chewing everything in sight, at the moment, o I am making sure that everything in site is allowed to be chewed on, my missus went to vinnies and for $15 got a big bag of plastic toys and there is shitloads of them around the yard, he now is getting an idea of the things he can and cant chew, easy capisy, think like a dog not a person that has lost $800 worth so far….Goood Luck, persevere and dont give up:) :)

    Was waiting for that Men-ace!

My parents have a hazelnut farm, which is where we were staying. Needless to say, mouldy nuts are not hard to find there! Under trees, in the waste piles etc etc. http://www.imlaynuts.com.au

Seriously, that is a known toxin for dogs!

Dave – After the first few days and the initial breakagesI thought the garage was ‘Sam proof’. A big metal drum though (the size of the dog) you would think is pretty safe though right. Well I did and that’s what’s happened.

I’ve spent more than $130 (in a week) on toys which he loves, it’s just he loves chewing other sh*t too! I even give him the whole bad dog routine every time he does it and he couldn’t give a damn

This isn’t the first dog I’ve had, he just needs some extra training, which will come soon.

I do need to find out how to stop him from at anything that walks past the house though, so if you have any ideas before we go to ‘school’ feel free to enlighten me :)

No idea how many – or even if that was the problem! It is not a nice thing to watch, the smasms eventually kill the dog. Snail bait is another trap. It is something you don’t think much about, till something happens like our experience! :(

The nuts are hazelnuts and macadamias. Macadamias normally will make a dog crook but don’t usually kill, just make them act drunk and listless. Mouldy nuts kill. Now there’s a slogan! :P

There is no such thing as a bad dog, just bad pet owners, ergo Moto you are responsible for tipping the used oil onto the floor.

He’s bored, labs/retrievers and many other “smart” breeds if not mentally stimulated will get into mischief. The problem here is the dog may be slightly smarter than it’s master and knows it, or it just may be that Moto needs to spend some intensive training time with the hound, buy a book and get him to read it to you, get a video and follow the instructions and next in to no time you too will have a compliant happy hound, who oeys you and understands his boundaries.

Yep i have a retriever, micheviou,s cunning, playful and a total foodaholic, also have a collie they are in a different league though, more intelligent and upfront arrogant.

I think you could be right Bruce, he is a clever little bas**rd :P I’ll take him to a few classes and get him sorted. He has heaps of toys, I play with him all the time (he won’t leave me alone:laugh:) and he gets walked twice a day for at least 20 minutes.

He just likes to play, he’s loving it!

it’s all good in the end. tigertyne is happy, moto has hair and sam learns to behave (and keep his tail from sticking up like a handle)
