Well, here it is. Perfect bike for a decrepit old fart!

And yes, that is a trials tyre on the back. A Michelin X11 I am testing with a view to getting a Pirreli MT43. So far VERY impressed.

I used to use the X11 religiously on my trials bike back in the UK. It’s a great tyre. How have you found it for clogging on muddy days Alan? The trials boys tilt the bike over on it’s stand before every section on a muddy day and gas it us to clear the shit out, obviously can’t do that on an enduro bike.

Do you use the trampoline much in your spare time?

Works brilliant in dry conditions which is 95% of the time around here. Sloppy at the moment but the bike is forkless at the moment so cannot give it a try. Tried it in some bog holes in the Watagans and it plugged through no problem. Stopped in the middle and restarted with out any wheel spin. Think it might reach it’s limit in real slop though.

The mini trampoline is one the wife has worn out. It is now the dogs sunbed.:)

G’day Shane. Riding up your way next month. At least I think it’s your way. Two day ride from the Zig Zag. Staying at the Zig Zag Motel. Last time I rode down there with you they had to call out the Fire Brigade Hazmat Unit to clean up the bush.

Slight leak from the oil seals.

    Just the basic stuff really.

Modified Carby. Slide mod (filling in two holes on top of slide and drilling out one hole on bottom to increas vacuum effect and slide movement), KLX300 needle on second groove from top, bigger main (136) and pilot (40) jets, 2.5 turns on the mixture screw. Air box lid off. Unifilter dual stage air filter. Revs out clean as a whistle with good “off the stop” throttle response.

Exhaust. TK pipes slip on can. Top Aussie product. Sounds great too.

Gearing. 48 chain gang rear and 14 front.

Front end. Forks 10w oil and stronger springs (when I get them:angry: ). Stock headlight and instruments replaced by Polisport headlight and pushbike speedo. Home made (very rough):) aluminium dash for warning lights.

Rear end. Stock lights and rego holder off. Rego plate on rear fender. NO mods at this stage to rear shock. For my riding weight (90klg) it seems ok. Race sag at about 95-100mm. Maybe a stronger spring later. See how it goes stock with the stronger fork springs.

Bars. Fat bar adapters with Pro Taper “Chad Reed” bend tapered fat bars.

Small mirror and mini blinkers to placate any interested members of the constabulary.

Tyres. Dunlop 756 front Michelin x11 trials rear.

So thats it. Just basic stuff but makes the difference chalk and cheese from stock.

It,s a yearly get together with the people I ride with regular. Some camp out and some (like me) do it easy in a motel. More a social weekend with riding as a bonus.
