WTG Champo, I think I saw my favourite Bike of all time the first of the modern era RM125X, I owned a D and E best rear suspension ever. That’s got me thinking real hard that has.

All the best Champo..I dont even “Dream” of doing it…Must say though that the Power delivery of the older bikes was something spectacular… I had an 82 CR 250 that was a “delight” to play on..a few Xt 500’s that just loved nothing more than trying to “OWN ” my ankles…I must say the ‘leccy kik’ is way more Polite on my Husky..LOL

my 1982 IT 250 has an awsome power band kick in. If your not hanging on when the reeds get motoring your nothing but a pasenger. absolutly amazing for there age.

Yeah…I had a 465 for a while, whilst I was in Isa..it cost me 7 offences and front page of the Local..All because it dropped the springs on the expansion/manifold…made heaps of noise going past a “plods” Lodge at around 930 pm…they picked me up hr odd later and went silly…Cost abit.

I think bikes have lost abit in their developement of power delivery…I know that being more linear is better for times…But that Kick…keepinig the bike in that zone..was sorta different..Scary yet fun?? I know my Husky is much more “polite” in its delivery than any bike i had before..15- 16 yr gap in riding…Suspension quality does heaps too.

even the new 2strokes have unbelivable controlable power. The IT pays bravery, if your game to keep it in the band through all gears you get the ride of a life time,( normally in an ambulance)

    ok

    how i went

    practice
went well, re-learning how to ride such a machine
    had a few problems
fistly, the bike started to only make power in the upper rev range
then the trottle cable came off it’s pully

i raced in the pre75 250 class to see if the bike was running ok

i found that the bike still only made power at max revs and would die at any other rpm
still, i was picking off a lot of 250s, so i keeped going and made my way up to 3rd

    P5160072.jpg

i then raced it in the pre 78 125
    made my way to 1st

    P5160073.jpg

with the bike by now barely running
i was invited into the feature race of the meet THE JACK IRELAND CLASSIC’ named after the guy who owns the property and lets us ride there

    P5160075.jpg

i managed to pass some open class bikes by running around the outside of turn 2. so wide was i that i had to wheel stand over a track maker (tyre with white paint on it)

i held the led while the bike self destructed. it was only making power at redline.
which was enough, but the wasn’t going to last
by the time i got to the last lap board
the engine stopped making power all together

    Well a DNF

Nothing unusual. I have never made through a VMX race yet without destroying the bike

I got my team of technicians to work straight away
    P5160077.jpg

After leading 2 races back to back on a bike that would only run on redline
    This is the result

Saturday night was catered dinner at the track, movies projected on the big screen (footage of us racing, followed by a doco on the 75 usa mx championship)
    P5160080.jpg
    Then climb into our tents

    Sunday morning
The damd piston fairies have not been

Prepping the perfect grass track. (The mx track was too rough to ride due to the recent rain)

Sadly this may be second last time we get to race at this awesome track
