Its finished Eagle, I just rode it around to Chops and parked it for him, it is the best looking bike I have seen in years, it looks like something you would see on a trade display at a motor show

PS there will be no finished product pictures until after the Christmas party, but I will listed the products and the list of mods tonight
November 22, 2008 at 7:03 am #111691OOOHHH THE EXCITEMENT,
It`s like XMAS morning come early, waiting for the new presents HA HA
From what I have seen so far it will be well worth the wait TB.
Will probably kick myself for not buying a DRZ to start with. That`s life I sposeNovember 22, 2008 at 8:34 am #112736
AnonymousI give those carbon bars 5 good crashes on rock. BLING as they are.
If they last longer than that I’m getting some
(5 crashes for me is normally 1 ride
)

ollie

AnonymousYou can get a slightly smaller one for a bike, but it costs a good chunk more money. Number plates are a very strict thing in Pommy Land.

Hey Moto, Chopper gave the bars a fair bit of lovin on the weekend and they are fine, I think the fact that they have the bark busters protecting the ends they willl be fine

AnonymousYeah, the style of hand gaurd fitted will certainly protect the bars from splitting. Chop was going good, I didn’t see him have much down time. I remember watching him fishtail all the way up this muddy hill thinking he wes going to bin it though. He just tractored on up and all was good.
He seems pleased with the bike
December 3, 2008 at 1:07 am #113601tractor up, mate i was doin heel clicks with a couple of triple leg snaps thrown in
December 3, 2008 at 2:57 am #113602
AnonymousWell, I did see legs waving everywhere, but not enough co-ordination to be called a heel click!
December 10, 2008 at 11:24 am #112735Last weekend I had the opportunity to put nearly 600kms on the Old Bull Project DRZ, its worth stating here at the start I had not planned on taking the DRZ on this trip, there was a slight operator induced failure with the 650 so at 8.30pm the night before I found myself getting the DRZ ready. The gearing was wrong and there no way it could swapped before the ride, it was set up for the Watagans but hey it was only a trail ride wasn’t it. Quick check over and it was thrown on the trailer.
Next morning in the car park of the Zig Zag railway it started first push of the button with no choke and of we went, within the first 2kms I released the gearing was shorter than I thought, and I found the bike to be under steering something shocking, it would push the front end every corner, I tried moving right up the front but it still would push and on the way into the lost city I was having to use the lips on the corner edges to maintain a decent pace. I let a small amount of air out of the front tyre and it made the world of difference, I was struggling with every aspect of riding the bike but mostly with the rear brake. During the Watagans weekend Chop had given it some love, some real love and even though the boys had straightened it some what it still required me to lift my boot completely from the peg to use it, then you would lock it because it was hard to regulate your foot pressure.
It was after we left Capertee some 80kms into the ride I worked out I couldn’t ride it like the Big Red Pig and I wasn’t on the BRP and I couldn’t make it my bike. As soon as I rode it, not relying on the throttle to steer it everywhere and gave up trying to back it into corners I started traveling along faster, smoother and was have much more fun. I kept thinking I was holding someone up, I could have sworn there was someone behind me so many times and yet when I stopped there was no one there. Sure the suspension was too soft for my portly size and I had to do things different but enjoyed changing my style to suit the bike and conditions. I was having to pick different lines to avoid bigger bumps, I couldn’t wheel stand over thing as easily as my bike, couldn’t’t turn the bike in tighter on the exit of the corner with the throttle to avoid running wide and couldn’t brake and weight my right hand peg or steer with my feet whilst braking. Yet with all of this I was still having a ball and setting a terrific pace on a very capable bike, it has a very wide rider friendly spread of power, the bike is very stable sure aided by the Roc Stompa but I did have it of for sometime and still the bike was stable.Summing the bike and the modifications we have made is a follows
Roc Stompa Steering Damper – Great easy to make quick adjustments whilst riding worth the coin 8/10
Carbon Fibre bars – Look bling as very strong, maybe to rigid, no flex vibration over long periods could be an issue 6/10
Oversize Front Disc – Great stopping power plenty of feel. One finger operation, needs braided line 8/10
Barrett Slip on Exhaust – Looks fat, sounds great and isn’t to loud and is somewhat lighter than standard 8/10
Plastic Bash Plate – Chop had given this a work out at the Watagans when he hit a rock and destroyed the rear brake lever and detached the engine case protector, First point of impact was the bash plate protecting the water pump, did its job, its light and quiet 9/10
LED Tail Light – Fits under the guard, easy to fit looks great and hasn’t missed a beat 8/10
Tee n Cee sticker kit – Looks great, was ridden and crashed on a muddy weekend at the Watagans and is unmarked, check the Tee n Cee link in the links section, 10% discount for all Old Bull Members
Scott From Battyes stripped the rims for us and had them anodized black and re laced them look great and haven’t chipped and are unmarked.
Fitted new Bark Busters with triple clamp mounts
Polisport MX headlight
Stealth Sprocket set front and rear
We fitted a set of Michelin ultra heavy duty tubes, I believe these are the best tubes on the market, they are very thick and would add unsprung mass to you bike, but hey if you can notice something like that you wouldn’t be reading this would you.
Speak with Scott at Battyes for any of these parts or anything else, he has a fat head but knows his stuff, he can mail your order anywhere for you..
