Quote:Dan D, make sure you get a good casing for this ride or you could be sorry!! speaking from expierance here i have had good milage from a $60.00 retread with a good quality casing and really poor milage from a poor casing. IE; A tyre that you would buy from new as a casing!!
We started buying theses retreads when they were new to the market and it makes all the difference!! Your only as good as what you start with!I dont know if the case that I got was good or bad? Kings Tire:huh: never heard of them – anyone else?
I will just have to wait and see how it goes – it’s gotta be better than the baldish tyre that I was gonna use.

Dan you obviously didnt get the retread from me,as I only stock tyres that have a good reputation Ie metzeler,Pirelli,Bridgestone Dunlops mainly. Kings tyre is a low end tyre. But hey you may be pleasantly surprisedB) you should at least get some good mileage from it;)

Your right Ollie, I got it from MX Central at Gateshead. I didn’t think you would be able to get me one delivered by Friday – maybe I was wrong, maybe I should of contacted you to see:huh:
I didn’t know that me deciding to spend my money on a tyre for my bike would cause so much trouble. anyway the tyre I got is what I’ve got for this ride. I didn’t have the spare coin to get a “new” tyre so if it all turns to shit I will put it down to experience and move on.
Who knows it may all work out good and I might be a retread convert. I have heard good and bad reports of people using retreads, so after this ride I will make my decision.
The end of how much retreads suck, how bad it will be people, lets just move on and keep on topic.
July 1, 2009 at 12:29 pm #142068Cant guarantee front cases I can guarantee rear cases. I only ask the manufacturer to supply me with the above named brands.
Have a good ride guys:cheer:
No probs Dan,like you said better than the bald tyre you had on it:laugh: I think the Kings tyre is a 6 ply:dry: so it might be a bit stiff in the side wall, just have a fiddle with the tyre pressures, recommend about 12 – 14 PSI to start with.
ollie
July 1, 2009 at 12:49 pm #142069Be good if its 6 ply

July 1, 2009 at 8:47 pm #142070I road to work this morning wearing just a vest type jacket and a raincoat over the top just to see if it would be enough to keep me warm for the early morning start of the ride. Left home at 5.30 and got to work about 5.55, hands were just starting to feel the cold with road bike gloves on, other than that it was good. I was thinking I would wear my heavy Jacket but I think I will leave that at home now.
I fitted the new tyre and new brake pads while I had the wheel off, had a bit of trouble getting the the tyre to push up onto the bead lip properly though. I tried some WD40 and that didn’t work then added some grease and that didn’t work, then added some silicon spray and finally got it on with about 80PSI. I don’t remember having that much trouble before.
Tank still hasn’t arrived . Originally I was just going to change sprockets to get the distance but I don’t like the power drop that comes with it, which is why I went for the tank. Anyway if it doesn’t turn up I will go back to plan A, it was fine on the caves ride.
July 1, 2009 at 9:55 pm #142073Thats strange regarding the tyre Jeffro they are normally easy to fit and normally bead easy as, could be the way you where holding your tongue
The tank will turn up today have faith grasshopper  doing the distances last night our biggest section is 160 odd klms without fuel, I can get the support vehilce in to meet us at the 80km mark which I may do.TB
