July 2, 2009 at 10:16 am #121866The rear tank turned up today so I have fitted the tank and run the fuel line but there isn’t enough room to fit the t-piece between the fuel cock and the inlet on the carby with the one they sent me  . I was going to get a brass one anyway but now it needs to be shorter to fit.
I’m also worried that the fuel may not get through from the back tank because the line has to run uphill at one point. Does anyone else think it will be a worry or will there be enough suction to pull it through?

The fuel will run Jeffro has long as the tank is higher than the carby, trust me I have fitted these to DR’s before, its tight and yes a brass T piece is the go

July 2, 2009 at 10:29 am #121867SEE,,,, ASK & YOU SHALL RECEIVE

Valuable info saves time & worries:) Especially when time is short before such a ride !!!!
CheersJuly 2, 2009 at 10:00 pm #142137Jeffro I have just been going through some of the old fittings and hardware I have here and I have some brass T pieces and brass taps ( we had trouble with plastic taps when we went to the cape in 2004 falling to pieces with the vibration )
I have put the fittings in the trailer that the girls will be towing on the weekend.
The two studs that go into the tank shouldn’t be overtightened either as they will pull out of the tank if you just nip those up and use the straps criss crossed over the tank that stay put in even the biggest crashes

July 2, 2009 at 10:25 pm #142196I was just going to ask if you knew where i could get the brass fittings. I have the storeman on the job now, he used to work for a couple of different bike shops so hopefully he finds something. If not, what time will you be in newy so I can grab the bits?
July 2, 2009 at 10:32 pm #142197Wont be at Chicken till 8.30pm
, see if you can source so little hose clamps as well, triple loops of lock wire tightened or medium sized cable ties pulled tight around the hose fittings also does the job.Welcome to duck down and get them at 8.30 if you want, but Pirtek or any of the hose fitting services should get you out of trouble

July 2, 2009 at 10:35 pm #142199Thanks mate, he was going to try Pirtek for me. I would much rather have everything sorted well before 8.30 but we will see what happens.
July 2, 2009 at 10:37 pm #142198It cold here cold guys.
6am today looking towards Sunny Corner from my place.

That’s snow up on the hill and it was blowing snow all around the house. If the wind eases a bit then I’m sure the snow will settle.
Have a good ride and be safe. I’ll be catching up for a beer on Saturday night.
