One year ago today I wrote this.

    Gday all,
I clicked on a link on Thumpertalk and found you guys.It will be great to have an Aussie version of Thumpertalk happening.
My name is Mick and I live at Wauchope NSW,I have a few bikes in the shed that get ridden most weekends as we have the state forest all but at our back door. Our family also owns 640 acres at Comboyne were we have our own personal enduro track (4.5 km loop)
    The bikes we have are 08 KTM530, 99 XR630, 94 XR630, 2007 KTM 990 Adventure,06 KX 85 (sons),2 x KTM 50 (daughter),2 x PW50.
I will tell a few mates about this site and lets see if we can get it up and happening. You’ve particularly won me over with the dedicated XR section!!!!

So as it turns out I have been a member a year today, seems like 5 years, considering all the rides I have done since I found this site (with its 13 members at the time). Thanks everyone for making the last year a ton of fun!!

As I sit here eating my reheated chicken casserole I realise I am old, so I guess you blokes are too, and this site reflects that Mick, relaxed, no aggro and tall tales, good onya Bud for reaching the glorious age you have and having the good manners to be here.

Just thinking back on the last year, Geez I have had some memorable get offs!!! Since joining this site I have..

    Hit a Cow…..Broken rib

Highsided into a ditch at speed…..took a huge tumble. No damage

Fell backwards down the face of Bago..Dusted my elbow, recently removed gravel from under the skin

Flipped the XR on the road……Broken foot, missed Xmas party ride.

Hit a big ditch at speed….print from inside of helmet on forehead for 4 days.

Big off infront of Ollie on my birthday bash ride….Hurt pride as Ollie laughed like mad and buggered foot peg and wrecked helmet.

So on averages I can look forward to a big off every 2nd month.

Maybe it is time to reaccess my leisure activities.:S

Or just learn to ride would be a start

As far as being one year old I have been reading through some of the older stuff and there are some funny things

Moto has done some funny posts eg,

    Tire Removal & Installation
    http://www.obtrailriders.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&Itemid=56&func=view&catid=8&id=4485

Funny thing about that is he doesnt change his tyres

    Adjust Your Damping
    http://www.obtrailriders.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&Itemid=56&func=view&catid=33&id=3368

Funny coming from a man that has made whinging about his suspension / mainly his forks an Olympic sport

I am not just picking on Moto, its just I am looking for a particular story and came across these in the last couple of minutes and I had a laugh

Maybe I should adjust my ambitions to reflect my abilities.

That ‘Adjust your Damping’ thread is a quality read. After getting my new shock spring and getting the forks reoiled I have used this over the last few weeks to get my suspension sorted. It’s still not 100% but it’s getting the job done much better than before :)

They were the good old days of the cut and paste though to build the site’s technical library up. Someone had to do it ;)

The first option would be easier at my age.

Considering I did over 6000km of trail riding last year, one has to expect an occasional mishap. Except if you are a trail legend.

You do realise Moto, that there is no such thing as perfect suspension, without some sort of telemetric sensory inpt and hydrualic response system all pure mechanical systems are going to be for one thing or another. The best forks i have ever used can still be criticised under some conditions.
And I’m well tired after work, but I’d prefer to be well tyred on the bike.

Bloody English think they’d learn the language eh?
