You can in one of the pics that I have started to sand the tank down, with a bit of work it will come up alright. Never heard of the peanut butter thing though!

Yeah I did see them. I don’t think the resto on the one I have will be too much hard work. Besides, Tyne said she wants to help so scrubbing the damn thing within millimetres of having no skin left on your hands can be her job :D

I think there have been complaints the colour of the Clark tanks are not exactly right. Better off restoring your own – especially if your going to ride/race it!
Hey Moto man, what sort of paint job will you do? Hopefully not powder coat.

I did think about powder coating but will likely just paint it myself after I get it blasted. Same with the motor, swingarm and any other bits such hubs etc.

WHat’s wrong with powder coating anyway?

I thought it would be alright for the frame though, it’s not really all that exposed. I’ll likely paint anyway to save some money.

Just bought the plastics, new spokes, Boyessen reeds, grips, Renthal bars, seat cover and new throttle assembly. A mob in Sydney will anodize the rims (black) for me if I clean them up.

I can’t get the clevis pin out of the lower shock/swingarm………don’t make me get the grinder out! :D

Yes and eventually water and moisture gets under it and rusts your frame from under the coating with little pinholes of rust coming through.

If your going to the effort of getting the frame sandblasted you’ve got to get it stove enamelled Stevo, well worth the money and a far better, long lasting finish ;)

    Will look the goods B)

I’m just going to give it to the local painter who I used to sub work to at my old job. He’s going to sand blast and 2 pack epoxy the frame and swingarm for $300 (as well as sand blast a few other bits).

Anyone know a good welder to run a weld or two and clean up the header of an old expansion chamber? I want to grind and re-weld and old, poor attempt at a repair too. It will be shotblasted clean and easy to work on.
