Good work guys. I’m looking forward to next weekend. The DRZ is all set to go and i’m chomping at the bit.
Hav’nt had a chance to test the new suspension yet so there may be some tweaking on the go.

October 17, 2009 at 10:28 am #156945thanks TB and Axel for organising this ride me axel grant and bob just rode from clergate.i think grant just put more oil in the back brakes and was right to go.We were having a great time TB was sitting right up my clacker for a while think he was just playing with me don t think he woreys to much about rocks not long after that the tree bit him and we parted ways.had a great time behind bob today he had some troubles on a few hills but just got faster as the day went on.
October 17, 2009 at 10:30 am #156938Great read Dan!
I love a lot of things about OBT but reading good reports ranks as number 1. Sounds like you two had a great day and will certainly have some crew frothing for next weekend.
October 17, 2009 at 10:33 am #156939Good report Dan, sounds like a great ride.
How did TB bash plate hit the tree at that hieght?I wish I could do the ride next week but I am working out a clutch problem and dont know if I can make it (noisey basket, think it needs a shim).

Hard under acceleration 2nd gear when the front end came up. TB leaned the bike over to miss the two trees that were close together and the rest is history. Just a case of zigging when a zag was in order.
Lucky that TB had a brake snake fitted that kept the damage to a minimum.
That is too bad about the Beemers clutch hopefully it will be an easy and inexpensive fix.

AnonymousI’m glad you all had a great ride but there’s only one thing I’m worried about for next weekends ride. Obviously the photo taken below was at the end of the ride and DanD looks about 100 years old. Is that going to happen to me as well? Cause if that’s what happens to you after this particular ride I might not be interested.
Yeah right. As if I’d care, it sounds like it’s gonna be too much fun!

October 17, 2009 at 11:09 pm #156963Oh the incident with the tree I have to say I am so happy I wear Astrisk knee braces because the impact with the tree was fairly large and sent me flying with no time to warn Dan via the intercom that there was in fact a man down  as is the rule. The right hand knee area of my pants showed a hard impact but this morning inspection of myself or my brace shows no sign of the incident
The other thing is the steel toe pad for the alloy rear brake lever was bent and snapped of at one end with out the brake snake that I had fitted I am sure the alloy lever would have bent and snapped for sure costing me a small fortune (but less than a KTM for sure)

October 18, 2009 at 4:28 am #156940Good looking trip fellas,
TB
Could have been a year ending knee injury that, gotta love the PPE when it does its job.cheers
October 18, 2009 at 9:40 am #156983Good report as usual Dan. Can’t wait for next weekend.
October 18, 2009 at 9:54 am #156984Yeah two banger all the PPE wont as it should, pays to have it for sure
I checked the bash plate out today as I thought thats got to be bent in someway because it was a hard hit. Well I have to give Whipps bash plates a huge rap because I hit that tree bloody hard and it isnt bent as all.
The plate protects everything, it is easy enough to removed yet mounted well enough that it has never come loose. I thought the impact may have bent the mounting bolts but no everything is sweet. Two thumbs up Whipps like all their productsTB
October 18, 2009 at 10:12 am #156941On behalf of Grant and Myself, thanks for the ride guys. It was nice to meet some more members and enjoy a new set of trails.
Shame we didn’t try and stick together for more of the ride but that’s the way it goes sometimes. I think we actually got more ride time in I guess. By the end of the day we were hunting around for new single. We weren’t looking hard enough I guess!
Hopefully the “rocks on rocks” won’t wreak havoc on my forearms so much next time. Being chased by 650s makes me nervous
Grant was super keen to ride as always, Rocket idled the big 530 around all say incident free and Bob despite a couple of drops and a barkbuster malfunction, looked to have had a great time and rode real well. Till next time. -
